LOUISVILLE, Ken. (WAVE) – A restaurant chain’s Ladies Night Out promotion unexpectedly turned into a gift of love for a group of women going through a difficult time.

The Melting Pot restaurant is known for getting families to gather around the table. Recently the Blair family of Louisville, Kentucky did just that, but this time the dining room was not on the restaurant’s property.

Becky Blair’s family had been wanting to try out the fondue restaurant for some time so a few weeks ago, they made a reservation for the restaurant’s Ladies Night Out. Aunt Becky, who hadn’t been feeling well, would be the guest of honor. Then days before the dinner, Blair’s recent stomachaches suddenly become unbearable.

A trip to the hospital revealed inoperable lung cancer.

Niece Leah Pratt called the restaurant and explained their group cancellation.

“Everybody knows somebody that’s affected by cancer and for somebody to be so forthcoming with that information,” assistant manager Alex Miner said, “a bell went off in me.”
