NEW BREMEN, Ohio (WDTN) — A company’s redevelopment of a fire ravaged building is now complete.

We got a look at the new facility in downtown New Bremen Tuesday that is now office space for Crown Equipment Company.

The company is the world’s leader in lift equipment, like forklifts.

Crown has 10,000 employees across the globe but it’s headquarters is in New Bremen. It wanted to make sure the town wasn’t left with an eyesore.

Also moving into the space in just the last few weeks was the New Bremen Coffee Company, which is a nice perk for employees and anyone shopping downtown.

We asked New Bremen’s mayor about the rehabbed building. He says wasn’t sure it would ever return to its former glory after a fire there in February 2012.

“I stood on the corner that night and watched the flames go through the roof and I thought it would have to be a green space,” says New Bremen Mayor Jeff Pape. “But they did a wonderful job of bringing it back and it’s better than what it was.”

The building used to be an opera house.

Crown moved 100 jobs into the facility, freeing up other areas in New Bremen for possible expansion.
