Weather Decision Technologies, Inc. (WDT) is looking for a talented JavaScript developer to join the Web Services team. You will be working with a tight-knit group of engineers and developers building the next generation weather visualization products and tools on the web. WDT is a Norman-based weather company focused on providing world class, decision support tools and products to a wide range of consumers and weather sensitive industries around the globe.

Qualifications

Strong communication skills: The ability to communicate clearly within the team as well as others in the company is essential.

A JavaScript expert: From troubleshooting cross-browser compatibility to Node.js, you should be able to take on any kind of JavaScript projects.

A healthy understanding of design: Everything we deliver should have a good visual design. You should be able to create products that are intuitive and visually pleasing.

Ability to create readable JavaScript: The web services team collaborates together on many different projects.You should be able to create applications that are both readable and easy to understand for other developers.

An open source user: We are focused in utilizing open-source software to solve some of the complicated tasks put in front of us. You should be comfortable in utilizing and/or improving open source software in order to find solutions for our development needs.

An understanding of performance and scale: You should be able to create web applications with security, speed, and scalability in mind.

It would be nice to have

Familiarity with commonly used JavaScript libraries: BackboneJS, Grunt, Browserify, Angular.

Experience with continuous integration: We are moving towards a more automated workflow and experience with Jenkins, Bamboo, or other CI tools would be helpful.

Passion about unit testing: Alright, so it’s not that exciting, but ability to create unit tests for JavaScript is a plus.

Experience with Git: We use Stash, an enterprise-level Git repository management tool. Being comfortable with Git would help you get moving faster in the development workflow.

An interest in or willingness to learn about weather: We are a weather company at our core, and visualizations of our data will make much more sense if you have a basic understanding of weather data and content.

Mapping experience: Displaying weather data on a map is a no-brainer. LeafletJS and mapbox.js are our mapping libraries of choice.

Knowledge/Interest in D3.js: This visualization library shows a lot of promise in the future of weather visualization.
