THREE INDICTED FOR ROBBERY – Two men and a woman arrested in connection with the August robbery and assault of 73-year-old Jerry Thetford of Boonsville have been indicted on multiple charges. David Noah Simmons, 43, of Weatherford and Donald Walton, 48, of Poolville were indicted last week by a Wise County grand jury for burglary of a habitation, aggravated robbery and firearm smuggling (three or more). Jennifer Lynn Perkinson, 45, of Weatherford was indicted for aggravated robbery. All three remain in the Wise County Jail awaiting trial.

WRECK SHUTS DOWN ROAD, LEADS TO ARREST – A Poolville man was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a three-vehicle wreck Thursday night around 6:40 near Cottondale. Department of Public Safety Trooper Beau Bridgeman said Makaylyn Wolff, 17, of Springtown was stopped in the northbound lane of Farm Road 51 waiting to turn left onto Farm Road 2123 when her SUV was struck from behind by a pickup driven by Casey Smith, 44, of Poolville. The impact pushed Wolff’s vehicle into the southbound lane of FM 51 where it was struck a second time by a southbound pickup driven by Jordan Crittenden, 26, of Springtown. Meanwhile, Smith’s pickup ran off the road and through a fence on the west side of the roadway. No one was seriously injured in the wreck. Smith was taken to the Wise County Jail. The wreck had FM 51 shut down for about an hour and down to one lane for about another half-hour as the scene was cleared. Two ambulances, the Boyd and Cottondale fire departments and numerous law enforcement agencies responded to the scene.

SANTA COPS – Santa Cops applications are available beginning Monday at the Decatur Police Department. The deadline to return applications is Sunday, Dec. 1. CHARTER NIGHT – The Boyd Lions Club will hold its Charter Night 6-10 p.m. Saturday at the Boyd Community Center. Everyone is invited. Tickets are $15 at the door, and the event includes a hamburger meal, homemade dessert, silent auction and entertainment provided by the Cody Robbins Band. HOLIDAY CLOSING – Wise County Development Services and the Decatur dumpsite will be closed Monday, Nov. 11, for Veterans Day. The Boyd, Chico and Cottondale dumpsites will close the next business day, Wednesday, Nov. 13.

FOUNDATION BANQUET – The Bridgeport Education Foundation annual banquet and auction fundraiser is 6 p.m. tomorrow in the Bridgeport High School commons. FLU SHOT CLINIC – Boyd ISD and Boyd Medicine Store are hosting a flu shot clinic 1-6 p.m. today at Boyd Middle School. Insurance and Medicare will be accepted. Cost is $20 without insurance. The clinic is open to the public. Those getting a shot must be at least 7 years old.

SENIOR CENTER YARD SALE – The Decatur Senior Center, 1200 N. Miller, will hold a Mega Yard Sale 8 a.m.-5 p.m. today and 8 a.m.-noon Saturday. A beans and cornbread meal, including drink and dessert, will be for sale for $4.

SPAGHETTI FUNDRAISER – The Alvord ISD Junior Class will host a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser before tonight’s home football game against City View. The dinner will start at 5 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Donations will be accepted for the cost of the dinner, which will include spaghetti, salad, tea and dessert. There will also be a silent auction. Proceeds from the dinner will go toward the Junior/Senior Prom.

VETERANS CELEBRATION – A veterans celebration will be held 11 a.m.-noon Saturday at the Alvord Veterans Memorial Park.

RALLY – Overpasses for America will have a rally 10 a.m.-1 p.m. tomorrow at the U.S. 81/287 and Farm Road 407 overpass.

VOLLEYBALL PLAYOFFS – The Decatur Lady Eagles will take on Bonham at Gainesville High School at 5:30 tonight in the area round. The Boyd Lady Jackets will play Callisburg at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sanger High School in their area round game. Ticket prices are $4 for adults and $2 for students for the Boyd game.

REGULAR SEASON FINALE – The high school football regular season comes to a close tonight. Tonight’s games feature Decatur at Sanger, Bridgeport at Gainesville, Boyd at Whitesboro, City View at Alvord, Ponder at Paradise and Chico at Trenton. All games start at 7:30.
