The Community Action of Southern Kentucky Community Service Office is accepting applications for a $1000 Block Grant Scholarship.   The scholarship is open to income-eligible individuals wanting to return to school or continue their education.   Applicants must live in Barren County, have a high school diploma or equivalent and show proof of household income within federal poverty guidelines and complete an application form.  Applications are due by March 31.  For more information call 651-8171.

The Arts and Crafts Spring Fling will be this Saturday, March 23 from 9AM to 1PM at the Barren County Extension Office. A variety of vendors will be available including: jewelry, scarves, children’s clothing, , totes, purses, candy, t-shirts, baked goods, pre-packaged food, knives, skin care, cosmetics, cooking products, wood craft, dog and cat products, Bake Sale items, concessions and many, many more! “Knowing that you are not alone is important” is the topic of this month’s Cancer Support Group Meeting hosted by Dr. Craig Tyree with the Barren River Regional Cancer Center. The meeting will take place, this Thursday, March 24 at 6PM at the Barren River Regional Cancer Center located across from TJ Samson Community Hospital at 103 Trista Lane. The Barren County Historical Society is pleased to announce that Sean Kinder, Associate Professor, Humanities & Social Sciences Librarian at WKU, will be presenting our program this Thursday, March 24 at 6PM at the Mary Wood Weldon Library. For more information call 670-4766.

Glasgow City Clean up Week will continue through this Friday, March 25. Have your items out by 7AM on your regular garbage day. Unacceptable items include appliances, any type of liquid, pesticides, auto batteries and parts, asbestos, tires or construction material.  For more information on removal of tires or used oil disposal you may contact Glasgow Tire, Wal-Mart or TSC.

Summer Camp registration for current members of the Boys and Girl Club of Glasgow/Barren County will continue through this Friday, March 25 from 10AM to 2PM. If the summer camp capacity has not been filled by Monday, March 28, then non-members may apply. The camp is for 6 to 18 year olds. The fee is $125 for the first child and $75 for any additional children in the same household. Summer Camp will run from Wednesday, June 1st until Friday, July 29th from 7:30AM – 5:30PM. . Cave City free city wide clean up will continue through this Friday, March 25 from 8AM to 4PM across from the Firehouse Recycle Location. No tires, paint or hazardous chemicals.

The Barren County Circuit Clerk’s Office will close at 11:30AM this Friday, March 25 for the state observed Good Friday holiday. KSP will not be doing written test that day.

The annual Cave City Egg Hunt, sponsored by Caveland Church will be this Saturday, March 26 at 10AM. The Easter Bunny will be there also. Come early and register for prizes.

The annual Easter Egg Hunt will be at the Fountain Run Park, this Saturday, March 26 at 11AM.   There will be an Egg Hunt, Hot Dog Lunch, Games and Prizes for everyone.  Age groups are walkers up to 12 years.  This event is sponsored by the Fountain Run First Baptist Church.

Allen Lodge #24 F and AM will sponsor a Chili Supper this Saturday, March 26 from 5 to 8pm on the 3rd floor of US Bank in Glasgow.   Admission is $5 and children under 12 eat free. Proceeds go to Kids Hope Charity.

The Barren County Clerk’s Office will be closed this Saturday, March 26 in observation of the Easter Holiday.  Regular business hours will resume on Monday, March 28.

Glasgow Parks & Recreation Egg Hunt will be this Saturday, March 26 at Beaver Creek Park. Walking to 3 years will begin at 1PM, 4 to 7 years at 1:15PM and 8 to 10 years at 1:30PM. For more information call 651-3811.

Confederate General John Hunt Morgan Exhibit “The Horse Soldier” will be on display at the Cave Center Convention Center through March 30. This free exhibit tells the story of the Horse Soldier during the Civil War and highlights items used by the confederate cavalrymen, particularly those of Morgan and his fellow soldiers.

The American Red Cross Blood Drive will have a blood drive Thursday, March 31 from 3PM to 7PM at the Munfordville Baptist Church.

The Glasgow Garden Club will be hiking to see the Yellow Trout Lilies at Brigadoon State Nature Preserve, Wednesday, March 30. Meet at the Brigadoon parking lot at 9:30AM or follow from the Lera B. Mitchell Clubhouse at 9AM. The trail is moderately difficult and the hike will take about one hour. Call Linda at 270-710-1104 for questions.

Glasgow Middle School Golf Scramble Tournament will be held on Saturday, April 23 at the Glasgow Golf and Country Club.    Registration begins at 11:30am with a shotgun start at 1pm.  This is a four-person scramble tournament.  The cost is $60 per player or $240 per team. Prizes awarded to the top three teams long drive/ closest to pin contest.  For more information call Abe Shelton at 646-7359.
