ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Twins have signed right-handed pitcher Mark Hamburger again.

The St. Paul Saints announced Tuesday the 26-year-old Hamburger has joined the Twins. He posted a 3.28 ERA in 21 starts this season for the independent league team. Now the native of Shoreview and product of Mounds View High School and Mesabi Range Community College has another chance with his hometown organization.

Before Hamburger can pitch, he must serve a 50-game suspension for a second positive test for a drug of abuse.

Hamburger was signed by the Twins from a tryout camp and traded to Texas in 2008. He pitched eight innings for the Rangers in 2011.

Hamburger became the fifth Saints player to have his contract purchased by the Twins. Current relief pitcher Caleb Thielbar is one of them.
