The York County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 44-year-old Christie Shipley of Rock Hill.
The Coroner’s Office was called out to River Park Sunday morning after dive crews located Shipley’s body. Officials say Shipley went missing late Saturday while tubing with a friend.
Autopsy and toxicology tests are pending.
ROCK HILL, SC — Officials say a woman drowned over the weekend while tubing down the Catawba River.
Officials with the S.C. Department of Natural Resources say the drowning was reported Saturday after a woman disappeared while tubing on the Catawba River. Her body was recovered on Sunday.
The Rock Hill Police Department is handling the investigation.
The victim’s name has not yet been released. Also, no word on how she drowned or whether alcohol was a factor.
