NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Inauguration day preparations are underway.

More than 8,000 participants have accepted invitations to take part in a parade following the swearing-in of President-elect Donald Trump.

“As participants follow in the footsteps of our new president and vice president down Pennsylvania Avenue, they will be adding their names to the long list of Americans who have honored our country by marching in the inaugural parade,” said Presidential Inaugural Committee CEO Sara Armstrong.

The Marist College Band, the Nassau County Firefighters Pipes & Drums of East Meadow and the NYPD Emerald Society Pipes & Drums are among the 40 groups that will take part.

Here’s a look at the other organizations that will be marching in the parade:
