NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A truck that was apparently too tall for the Williamsburg Bridge is causing a traffic nightmare in the midst of Thursday evening’s rush hour.

As CBS 2′s Joe Biermann reported from Chopper 2, the traffic trouble is located on the outer roadway of the Brooklyn-bound side of the bridge.

Check Traffic Conditions

Debris from the truck could be seen scattered across the lanes.

The truck has been moved off of the bridge but all lanes of the outer roadway remain closed so that crews can remove the debris.

Delancey Street is backed up almost from the Hudson River all the way over to the East River with gridlock conditions, Biermann reported.
