MILLBURY (CBS) – Police are investigating after a swastika made of cinder blocks was discovered on the track at Millbury High School Monday morning.

Millbury resident Kimberly Elder Wright tells WBZ-TV she and a friend were walking the track when they came upon the cinder blocks.

“Our first thought was oh some kids had some fun last night moving the blocks,” she wrote in an email. “When we got closer we realized it was a swastika.”

Wright said she immediately called police to report it, but waited over an hour and officers never showed up. After snapping some photos of the display, Wright and her friend decided to take apart the cinder blocks themselves.

“I was so upset that we found it and then more upset that the police never came when they were called,” Wright said.

Police were expected to release surveillance video on Tuesday in hopes of catching whoever arranged the cinder blocks.

One selectman in town is even offering a $100 reward for information on the incident, Wright said.

Wright said the perpetrators need to be held accountable and taught a lesson.

“I love the town that I live in and I don’t want the negative publicity of this out there,” she said. “However, even if it was youth pulling a prank hatred and swastikas can not be tolerated in our society.”
