Book Swap
The Book Swap is coming! It will be held in the MPR on March 15- 17 (the days of Parent Teacher Student Conferences). This is a great way to refresh your reading selection at home! Start looking through your book shelves to see if there are books, dvds, board and video games that you would like to contribute to the swap. Every two items brought in gets you one "shopping coupon" which can be used at the swap. All items can also be purchased for 5 NIS (the money raised is donated to student/parent groups that staff the swap and to charitable organizations). Items must be in good condition (no torn or very yellowed pages or scribbles) but can be in any language spoken by our community. We will be accepting items until March 10.
We also need volunteers to staff the swap so please sign up here!
Elementary Library Classes
This was a short week so I did not see all classes.
Preschool and Kindergarten: We continued looking at Caldecott Award books by reading the classic tale "Madeline."
First Grade: We continued reading "Flat Stanley" in preparation for an information sharing activity we will be doing with the American School of South Sudan.
Second Grade: We went over how to access our electronic book subscriptions at Bookflix and Tumblebooks.
Third Grade: 3B worked on website citations for their animal projects.
Fourth Grade: 4B worked on their Ancient Greece unit, taking notes from websites and books.
Fifth Grade: 5A and 5C worked with the Media Smarts program which focuses on good digital citizenship.
Library Tech Week: Be the Source of Change!
Our annual Library Tech Week is taking place all next week, under the theme of "Be the Source of Change." We have lots of great activities planned, all showcasing how technology can be and has been the source of change!
