9pm- TarantinosNYC

Genre: Surf, Soul, Spy, Spaghetti Western instrumentals
For fans of: Dick Dale, Link Wray, Ennio Morricone, The Ventures, Booker T & the MG’s

The TarantinosNYC specialize in 60's-70's Surf, Soul, Spy and Spaghetti Western instrumentals, featuring the great soundtrack material in Quentin Tarantino movies, and also originals in the style of classic movie and TV themes. See the song list on their web site, and you’ll get an idea of what these styles have in common – reverb, twang, cool… retro juvie kicks…! The TarantinosNYC started in 2005, and have played such events/venues as: the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament, Rockwood Music Hall, Music Hall of Williamsburg, Southpaw, Brooklyn Bowl, Rodeo Bar, Otto's Shrunken Head, Long Island City Boathouse (benefit event), NYC Horror Film Festival, Wrath of Cannes Film Festival,  Delancey, Cha Cha's of Coney Island, Coney Island Boardwark, Met's Cruise, Don Hill's, Bowery Electric...and many more. They were also guests on the Joey Reynolds radio show on WOR-AM and were filmed for Tripwave TV.

Everynight Charley's Manhattan Beat , Saturday, October 5, 2013
"More than a novelty band, the TarantinosNYC is a cleverly-conceived music event – a soundtrack to a night at the movies without sorting through the film’s plot intrigues."

New York Music Daily
New York Surf City by delarue, 8/8/2012
"By half past eleven, the TarantinosNYC had taken the stage. They have the kind of chemistry that comes from constant gigging and the kind of diverse, cinematic sound their name implies. And they don’t just do songs from Tarantino movies: this particular show featured a lot of unpredictable, anthemic originals, a digression into Link Wray … and finally a majestically lurid version of ... You Only Live Twice."

10pm- Damian Quinones

A 6 piece outfit fronted by singer/guitarist/songwriter by DamianQuiñones, they are currently supporting their self released album, "Gumball Ma-Jumbo!"(2012).

Akin to a mix tape made from his uncles old vinyl collection, Damian Quiñones and his band "El Conjunto" are sonically funky, expansive and colorful. Quiñones songwriting is a heady stew of 60's rock and roll, Nuyorican funk, with a nice helping of tropicalia, and Afro-Caribbean sounds to boot.

"Damian Quiñones y Su Conjunto’s new album Gumball Ma-Jumbo - streaming in its entirety online - is a masterpiece of tunesmithing, an intricate mix of oldschoollate 60s style psychedelic soul, rock and pop spiced with salsa, luscious horn charts, bubbling keys and nasty guitars."-Lucid Culture

10pm- Artanker Convoy

Genre: psych pop
For fans of: Can, The Faces, Unknown Mortal Orchestra

Best known for their tripped out take on dirty jazz a la Miles Davis 1970, Convoy has dropped their keys & synthesizers in favor of 3 part harmonies over a blown out southern rock sound. The rhythms of drummer Artanker still surprise and keep the crowd shuffling its feet. The clean new sound of Convoy rips through the party but still takes you on occasional psychedelic hayrides.

The Wire:
“equal parts funk and freakout. There are definite tinges of Miles Davis' early 70s groups.”

Seattle Weekly:
“…like Can; each song grows organically into something awkwardly suited for a dance party of sorts.”

10pm- Dawn Drake & ZapOte

Genre: Afro-Latin Funk
For fans of: Antibalas, Budos Band, ESG, Jamiroquoi, Chico Mann, Cumbiagra, English Beat, Police

Taking its name from a luscious fruit in Cuba known as "ZapOte", this band is an original Funk Latin Afro-Beat band lead by Dawn Drake, bassist/conguera/singer/songwriter and composer, who manages to wear several hats while setting the scene with her own brand of cool. Her original music takes the listener and dancer into a zone where House, Funk, Afro-beat, Samba, Afro-Cuban rhythms and Jazz are right at home. Poetic lyrics spread messages of universal consciousness, delivered with heartfelt vocals, and are joined with the irresistible grooves of Latin percussion, funky bass, swinging horn lines and improvisation.

BAM CAFE LIVE  –Darrell McNeill
"Dawn Drake and her band ZapOte are at the beginnings of a fascinating journey to enthusiastically bridge chasms of cultural and gender disconnect that plagues so much of pop music's body politic. To hear them is to imagine early period jam sessions between Laura Nyro and Carole King with Sly Stone and Sergio Mendes sitting in. Theirs is a playfully intense dynamic that needs to be seen more."

-Darrell McNeill, Black Rock Coalition Director of Operations & CURATOR of BAM Café LIVE, Brooklyn Academy of Music GO MAGAZINE  –Jenny Lazar
"Dawn contributes heavy Afro-Caribbean licks on congas, bongós and Brazilian caixa as a partial list...and it's no amateur hour..."

Dawn Drake  –Meewsic Records
"Cuban, African & South American styles mesh together into delicious jazz/pop fusion; a wonderful backdrop for Dawn's sassy vocals. She also arranged the horns (excellent job), played bass and did all the percussion; a truly multi-talented performer!" Brian Fox, Meewsic Records

Jules Bistro Presents Dawn Drake  –Jules Bistro
"This saucy debut by soul sistah Dawn Drake is an incredible gift to the world of world music! She skillfully weaves together her bold poetic lyrics, melodic vocals, and a fusion of danceable rhythms performed by herself and a very talented band of musicianados.
You'll love the horns, the deep bass, the compelling percussion..."
