NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY)   — If you plan to drive on I-64 in Newport News this week, some road work could impact your travel.

Work crews will be paving the shoulder lane between Fort Eustis Boulevard (Exit 250) and Jefferson Avenue (Exit 255) during the overnight hours, weather-permitting. This is all part of the I-64 widening project on the Peninsula.

The following lane closures are scheduled.

Sunday, Sept. 27: Single-lane closures eastbound, 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning

Monday, Sept. 28 – Thursday, Oct. 1: Single-lane closures eastbound and westbound, 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.

No daytime lane closures are planned at this time. Lane closures and construction information will be announced weekly throughout the duration of the project, which is scheduled for completion in December 2017.
