HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) — The following is VDOT’s schedule for highway lane closures that may affect regular traffic in Hampton Roads.
Significant Lane Closures:
I-264 Downtown Tunnel : Get the latest updates on construction activities at the Downtown Tunnel by visiting the ERT website: https://www.driveert.com/
I-264 East Off-Ramp to Frederick Boulevard, Portsmouth: The ramp is temporarily closed for up to 18 months. Motorists currently using the I-264 east Portsmouth Boulevard off-ramp will temporarily detour to the I-264 east Portsmouth Boulevard exit to access Frederick Boulevard.
I-264 West On-Ramp from South Street, Portsmouth: The ramp has permanently closed. Motorists currently using the South Street on-ramp will permanently reroute to the Effingham Street on-ramp to access I-264 west.
Martin Luther King Freeway/London Boulevard South Off-Ramp, Portsmouth: Harbor Drive/MLK Freeway from London Boulevard to High Street is permanently closed to traffic for work on the new MLK Extension. Motorists traveling into Portsmouth on US-58 west from the Midtown Tunnel or Route 164 will be rerouted to London Boulevard north or south.
I-64 Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel: Motorists should expect single lane weeknight closures in both directions between Hampton and Norfolk, during the week of Nov. 2 – Nov. 8, starting as early as 11 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. each morning.
I-664 Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel: Motorists should expect single lane weeknight closures in both directions from Sunday through Thursday, starting at 7 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following morning.
I-264 and I-64, Norfolk and Virginia Beach: Motorists should expect multiple lane and ramp closures as contractor crews perform concrete patching work on segments of I-264 and I-64 as weather conditions permit. Please see the listing below for a schedule of the closures.
Gilmerton Bridge (Route 13/Military Highway), Chesapeake: The overnight weekly lane closure schedule (Sunday−Thursday, 8 p.m.−5 a.m.) has resumed. For more information, visit gilmertonbridge.org.
