Applebee’s is again offering a free meal to military veterans and active-duty service members on Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015. On Veterans Day, Nov. 11, the restaurants will be open from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. and the free menu for past and present veterans is available at all locations. Veterans must provide proof of service to qualify for the free meal.

Fazoli’s, a fast-casual Italian restaurant chain, will honor the men and women of the United States Armed Forces by offering a FREE “Build Your Own Pasta Bowl” to veterans and active duty personnel of the armed forces Veterans Day.
To redeem the offer, veterans and active armed forces personnel should visit a participating location and show their military ID or wear their uniform.

Events
Gatlinburg Winterfest Kickoff, Chili Cookoff and Veterans Day
Gatlinburg will kickoff the 26th year of Smoky Mountain Winterfest with the annual Gatlinburg Chili Cookoff and Winter Magic Kickoff on Nov. 11 from 5-8 p.m. on the Parkway in downtown Gatlinburg.
Corryton Elementary has invited veterans to be honored in the morning assembly followed by a small breakfast between 7:45-8:15 a.m. In addition, the grandfather of a kindergarten student will discuss the meaning of Veterans Day and perform a flag ceremony.
East Knox Elementary will host breakfast in their library with the 5th grade chorus at 7:30 a.m. After breakfast, veterans will visit classrooms to share with students about their military experiences.
Gibbs High will present a Quilt of Valor made by GHS students to a local veteran during the school’s ceremony at 8:40 a.m. hosted by the Army JROTC. The band and chorus will do a short performance and doves will be released as the ceremony closes.
In addition to the above, nine KCS high schools will have students marching in the City of Knoxville’s 90th Veterans Day Parade including Austin East Magnet, Bearden, Central, Farragut, Fulton, Karns, L&N STEM Academy, South-Doyle and West. The parade will start at 10:40 a.m. at the Knoxville Coliseum.
