KNOXVIILE (WATE) – A number of events are planned throughout East Tennessee to celebrate the Halloween season.

Mount Olive Baptist Church, 2500 Maryville Pike in Knoxville, is holding its annual Fall Festival on October 25 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event includes free food, games and blow-ups, live music, hay rides and lots of candy. More information: http://www.mobcknox.org

The City of Morristown is celebrating Halloween with “Boofest” on Monday, October 26, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. along the trail at Fred Miller Park. Parking is permitted at Gateway Church, Calvary Baptist Church and Health Star Physicians. Children are encouraged to dress up and enjoy the night, but any parents wearing masks will be asked to leave. You may register at the Morristown Parks and Recreation office at 415 W. Louise Ave. from 8:00am till 5:00pm.

Karns High School is holding a free trick or treat festival on October 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. called “Ghoul at the School.” Community members can bring their children for free trick-or-treating in a safe environment.

The Oak Ridge Recreation and Parks Department is holding a 2015 Children’s Halloween Party on Thursday, October 29, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The party is primarily for preschool and elementary aged children, but older kids attending with their families are welcome. Activities include carnival games, inflatables, toddler game room, Halloween cartoon videos, face painting, concessions, glow room, and craft room. The Scary Room will have a haunted castle theme. A hayride is planned for Bissell Park, weather permitting. There is no admission fee to get into the Civic Center but participation in most activities requires one or more tickets. Tickets can be purchased for 25 cents each or as a pack of 25 for $5. The cost of the games, crafts, face painting, scary room, hayride, concessions and souvenirs is 1 or more tickets.  The toddler game room and cartoon videos are free.

First United Methodist Church, 804 Montvale Station Road in Maryville, is holding a Fall Festival on October 31 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. More than a thousand people are expected to enjoy inflatables, games, hot dogs, popcorn, trunk-or-treat and more.

Horse Haven of East Tennessee, 2417 Reagan Road in Knoxville, is hosting a kids event called “Boo at the Barn.” Kids can enjoy trick-or-treating in the main barn at each decorated stall. Horses will be wearing costumes and a haunted “Barn of Terror” will be set up among many other activities.

RIO East Church. 1412 E. Broadway Avenue in Maryville, is hosting a free Harvest Festival community event on October 21. The Family Fun Carnival starts at 6 p.m. with free food, games, activities and more. Then at 7 p.m., anyone over age 11 is invited to take part in a “Night of the Living Dead” up close. There will also be a costume contest and trunk-or-treat.

The University of Tennessee Gardens presents the second annual Howl-O-Ween Pooch Parade and Pet Expo. This Halloween-themed event sponsored by the UT Gardens and the College of Veterinary Medicine caters to dogs and dog lovers. The event will be held on Sunday, October 25, from 1 to 5 p.m.

Star 102.1 is providing a safe alternative to going door-to-door for Halloween with their trick-or-treat trail. The Star 102.1 Trick or Treat Trail goes on rain or shine, Sunday October 25 from 1-5 p.m. at the Civic Coliseum Pavilion. Costume contests are scheduled from 1-2 p.m. The trail opens at 2:00 p.m. with more than 20 booths giving out free candy.

The Hamblen County Sheriff’s Office will hand out candy bags on a first come first serve basis at the Hamblen County Justice Center, 510 Allison Street in Morristown, beginning at 5 p.m. on October 31. They will also be giving free gun locks to parents who have weapons in their homes.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is holding its first Trunk or Treat in the sheriff’s department parking lot from 7 to 9 p.m. on Halloween night.

Knoxville Center Mall is hosting its annual “Mall-o-ween” event. Kids are invited to show off their most creative or spookiest costumes at the annual mall costume party and streets stroll. There will also be a costume contest for adults. All costumes must be family friendly. appropriate and worn only during event times. No toy weapons are allowed. Only kids 12 and under can trick-or-treat and wear masks. The event is Friday, October 30. Costume contest and registration begin at 5 p.m. and the costume contest begins at 6 p.m. Admission is free.

A “Boo-Town” event is being held at the Tennessee Medieval Faire site, 550 Fiske Road, in Harriman. A “merry-not-scary” treat village is available with crafts, food, beer and entertainment as well as a haunted hayride. Nightly entertainment includes a patron costume parade, treat booths, a bouncy house, games, music and dance, spooky story-telling and a magic show.  The event runs October 23-24 and 29-31 from 5 to 10 p.m. Admission is $5 for ages 2 to 12 and $10 for ages 8 and up.
