Dartmouth brands is based in the UK and houses a wide variety of brands focused on the UK market. They are not solely distributed in the UK, but have have their primary home there and a great collection of watch lines. The first covered today is the Avi-8 Flyboy Bronze. The Flyboy has been expressed in several different models, with the bronze being the newest addition to the line up. The Avi-8 Flyboy features a Miyota 8215 automatic movement and calf leather Nato strap.
A new model of Hawker Harrier II takes its design inspiration straight from the cock pit. The display is uniquely displayed with the hour indicated on an outer ring above the AVI-8 logo, and below the green arrows pointing downward. The minutes are counted on the ring below the AVI-8 logo and identified by the green top. The seconds are indentified in the same fashion, but just above the 6:00 area.
The Flyboy Mesh was another novelty from Avi-8 this year, combining a slate grey textured dial with stainless steel 43mm case and 2.8mm thick milanese bracelet. This model also houses a Miyota 8215 automatic movement and has an exhibition case back, just as other Flyboy models.
The new Hawker Hunter was a personal favorite in the Avi-8 line up, with a gently textured dial and an impressively designed 44mm stainless case, especially considering it’s price point. For $360, the overall look is very instrumental, and hugs the wrist well wearing great for its size.
James McCabe was born in 1748, who was the son of Patrick McCabe, a notable watchmaker from County Lurgan in Ireland. James McCabe immigrated to London in 1775 where he built his own business in Bells Building, Fleet Street.
JA McCabe is another brand utilizing Japanese Miyota movements but assembled in UK. The brand itself pays tribute to the house of McCabe with it’s variety of designs and the creativity along with the prestige of the manufacture that was celebrated and revered throughout the years. First featured is their new Heritage auto, with small seconds and 24 hour indicator, retailing just under $500.
The new London Auto is a line extension of their previous thin quartz watch. Now is a sleek Miyota automatic, the London series has a 43mm stainless steel case, exhibition back and is offered in 3 different styles (the other two being a white dial with yellow gold plated case, and a brown dial with rose gold plated case). MSRP is to be just over $400.
Founded in Leipzig, Germany the DuFa trademark was registered by Etzold and Popitz watch and clock factory prided for its best work prior to WWII. Bauhaus style remains prevalent in the brands DNA and though the brand has been revived by its new owners, it retains the heritage of where it came from.
The model pictured above is sure to appeal to fans of the Bahaus design, ,with a grey dial and matching strap that will easily catch the eye of fans of the Nomos Lambda for only just over $520. The 42mm case with domed dial and crystal is very 1960’s and symmetrical. These models will use the Miyota 9000 series movements with sub seconds, date and power reserve indicator.
