Welcome to my final results column, ever. You can see results from the previous week here. Not a whole lot to discuss over this last week and change, especially because I'm putting this out so fast, but I got all of the major fights on lock. I'd tell you it's been a pleasure to present this to you week after week after week, without fail, over the last year and change, but I'd obviously be lying. It was a royal pain in the ass. But hopefully some good came/comes of it. See you next year...

Takashi Uchiyama UD12 Daiki Kaneko (117-110?, 117-110?, 117-110?)
It wasn't quite business as usual for Uchiyama, but he got the job done without controversy. Kaneko was too raw and got out-boxed. Nonetheless, this was the first time Uchiyama was extended a full 12-rounds during his world championship reign. The last time scorecards were read after 12 rounds in an Uchiyama fight was in 2008 against Hero Bando. Uchiyama, used to enjoying size and strength advantages over opponents, found things different against Kaneko. Subsequently he had to settle on winning the fight mostly on speed and timing. Kaneko was generally unfazed by Uchiyama's power and turned the long-reigning champion into a fleeing counter-puncher.
However, the undeterred Kaneko eventually tracked Uchiyama down and floored him hard with a right hook in round 10. The champ was fortunate to see the round end shortly thereafter. And then there was round 11, which turned out to be the most exciting of the fight. Kaneko immediately jumped on Uchiyama and did his best to get him out of there but Takashi weathered the storm and closed the round the stronger. He kept the momentum going into the final round.
Ultimately Uchiyama emerged victorious and made the 8th defense of his WBA super featherweight title. His record improved to 21-0-1, 17 KOs. On the other hand the 25 year old Kaneko acquitted himself well enough to lead me to believe that he will become world champion someday.
Takashi Miura TKO9 Dante Jardon
Miura threw his name in the "Fighter of the Year" hat with his 3rd straight win against a top-10 super featherweight in 2013. Each opponent was dropped and 2 of them were stopped. Jardon was one of two that didn't make it to the finish line. Open scoring revealed a shutout after 4 rounds as Miura blasted away to the head and body and bullied Jardon around the ring. Miura then followed up by dropping Jardon in round 5, beating him up some more in round 6, beating the living hell out of him in round 7, and unofficially dropping him again in round 8. Open scoring then revealed the fight to be 80-71 (twice) and 80-70 before Miura scored his 3rd and final knockdown moments later. The referee did not bother to count as Jardon took his final knee. He was clearly unfit to continue.
Thus Miura retained his WBC super featherweight title and advanced to 27-2-2. He's the best puncher in the division and must-see attraction. Please bring him to American television...

Kazuto Ioka UD12 Felix Alvarado (115-113, 119-109, 119-110)
Alvarado showed up with a great game plan and top conditioning but was ultimately too raw, light hitting, and inexperienced to overcome Ioka's technical brilliance. Rounds were competitive but Ioka clearly won most of them. He landed the cleaner and harder shots. Thus the 2-weight world champion improved to 14-0 and made the 3rd defense of his WBA light flyweight title. Alvarado walked away with a completely-swollen-shut left eye but had no quit in him whatsoever; he fell to 18-1.
Based on what Alvarado was able to accomplish, I suspect a better version of him (Giovani Segura) would give Ioka absolute hell. Guys like Juan Francisco Estrada and Roman Gonzalez I would flat out favor to beat him. But this isn't me "hating" on the guy. The flyweight division is just that damn good. I can't wait for Ioka to move up.
Fahlan Sakkreerin Jr TKO3 Ryo Miyazaki
Miyazaki looked like a dead man at the weigh-in and fought like one in the ring. The former WBA world champion at strawweight was supposed to be targeting another world title at junior flyweight before losing this non-title fight at the division's limit. At this point Miyazaki should jump over the 108 lb division entirely and compete at flyweight, like his fellow countryman Akira Yaegashi did recently.
