Story by Kendall Jones, via Washington Beer Blog.

I’m sure you’re dying to know what Waddell’s Brewpub will be pouring at the Inland Northwest Craft Beer Festival this year. Also, what will English Setter Brewing and Hopped Up Brewing decide to serve? And what beers can you expect to see from Big Barn Brewing, Ten Pin Brewing, Perry Street Brewing, Bad Ass Brewing, and Top Frog Brewing. Those questions and more answered in the brewery/beer list below.

What? You’ve never heard of those breweries? Well then, perhaps that’s just one more reason you should head to Spokane and attend the Inland Northwest Craft Beer Festival on October 2nd and 3rd. See our previous post for event details or visit the official website.

Here is the list of breweries and beers:

Badass Backyard Brewing

1) Black

It’s similar to a stout with a smooth drinkability factor. It pairs perfectly with a day of fresh powder and a snowboard or a pair of skis. 7% ABV / 53 IBU

2) Seasonal Raspberry Wheat

It’s a Badass fan favorite! 6% ABV / 24 IBU

Big Barn Brewing

1) Ms Maggies Lavender IPA

A surprisingly spectacular fusion of Middachten culinary lavender and Amarillo hops make this IPA something special. We collaborated with our neighbors who have a beautiful Fleur de Provence lavender farm on Green Bluff to source the lavender for this delicious IPA. Sit back and enjoy this uniquely floral brew! 6.1% ABV / 81 IBU

2) Golden Pumpkin Ale

Harvest moon, frost…literally on the pumpkins. These two autumn images come to mind when enjoying a glass of our GOLDEN PUMPKIN. The mix of deep rich earth tones and the shine of a harvest moon come to life as the color and character of both are captured in this beer which proclaims fall. This beer is balanced with a perfect paring of 2-row barley, caramelized farm fresh pie pumpkins, cinnamon, molasses, ginger and clove, as well as real vanilla. 6.3% ABV / 20 IBU

3) Blackberry Porter

This porter does great justice to our brewery’s farming roots. Our farm-fresh blackberries make their appearance via the addition of our homemade blackberry syrup just at the end of the boil. A hint of blackberry on the nose is followed by the wonderful full body, enhanced by the subtle presence of chocolate and caramel malts. 5.7% ABV / 37 IBU

4) Mead Honey Lager

Farm fresh local honey lingers on your tongue in this refreshing, well balanced lager. Our honey lager is a clean, crisp brew which sparkles and effervesces so as to belie the fact that this too is a naturally unfiltered Big Barn brew. Northwest 2-row barley mashes with crystal malts and blends nicely with cascade hops to give this beer its unique small craft character that you will not find in other lagers on the market. 4.6% ABV / 22 IBU

Enjoy this refreshing malt-balanced rye ale with spicy Mexican or Caribbean cuisine, lamb or other pungent, spiced meats, or spiced desserts like carrot cake! 6.5% ABV / 38 IBU

Lightner Beer

This light American-style ale is a clean, crisp and refreshing session beer. Session beers are known for featuring a balance between malt and hop characters and, typically, a clean finish – a combination of which creates a beer with high drinkability. It is the lightest of our beers and named after Craig Lightner, our General Manager’s Father, who embodied the every-day hero in us all! 3.7% ABV / 24 IBU

M’mm M’mm extra good. 8.6% ABV / 59 IBU

3) Funkadelicious Fresh Hop Ale

“Fresh Hop” Ale has a very specific meaning – it has to be made within 24 hours of the time the hops are harvested. Fresh hop ales only happen once a year in celebration of the hop harvest, which is something every beer lover can support. Funkadelicious is our super fresh version of a fresh-hops pale ale.  Ask about how to bring out the funk when you order one, enjoy the hoppy freshness and then start dreaming of next year’s harvest. 6.3% ABV / 70 IBU

4) TW Frankensour

A friend bought a keg of 1997 TW Fisher Huckleberry Ale from a warehouse cleaning auction in 2013. We got a limited quantity of this surprisingly drinkable beer (a testament to the wonders of keg storage), which we mixed with an hoppy experiment that was fermented with a combination of lager and ale yeasts that had been aged already for a year in an oak wine barrel. We aged it another nine months, testing it along the way, to discover that we had created a beautiful abomination of a beer. Part fifteen year-old beer, part dual yeasted hoppy experiment, and aged past the weirdness into a delightfully funky franken-sour of beer that you have to drink to believe. IT LIVES! And you can drink it.  5.4% ABV /25 IBU

5) River City Randall

Come by and see what’s on the River City Randall.  We will have a couple of different beers and randall ingredients along the way that change throughout the day, so check in to see if it’s dark, light, fruity, spicy or just what. Any way it goes, it’s guaranteed to be good.

6) Firkin- Pumpkin Peach Ale Made The Hard Way

A Firkin is a small keg which we use to create an experimental beer.  We combine the wort of one of the beers in our line-up, but then add some special ingredients and yeast to let it ferment in the keg. As a result, it self-carbonates as it ferments, so the carbonation level is lower and the flavors more intense. This year we will offer Pumpkin Peach Ale Made The Hard Way.

7) 2015 Congratulator Eisbock (Friday Night Only)

Prepared for our anniversary party, the Congratulator Eisbock is maltier and higher alcohol than its baby brother name-sake dopplebock, but shares the lagered malty smoothness of this traditional beer.  It packs a whallop, so consume carefully. Only available in limited quantities. 12.5% ABV / 50 IBU

8) 2015 Bourbon Barrel-Aged Vanilla Bean Stout (Saturday Only)

This is the evil twin to our year-round VB Stout. Like a soap opera, this evil twin is not as sweet, darker and richer. To create this beauty we added a traditional stout and whole vanilla beans to an Oola Distillery Waitsburg Bourbon Whiskey barrel and then let is set for 3 months. The result is not as sweet as our VB Stout, but an interesting contrast. It definitely has a full, rich body and some oaky tartness from the barrel and aging. Limit one pour per person. 6% ABV / 55 IBU

In the tradition of lager style beers, we have taken the time to cellar this beer to achieve a clean and crisp quality. 5.6% ABV / 10 IBU

2) Pumpkin Ale

A light spiced ale with very low hop presence and slightest malt sweetness. Think pumpkin pie with whipped cream in a glass. 4.5% ABV / 7 IBU

3) Firebox IPA

Our year round IPA is named for the old coal burning firebox boilers of the Steam Plant. Cascade hops reign over the malted barley sweetness. A bit less bitter than your typical IPA, but still a hop forward ale. 5.8% ABV / 69 IBU

Our original flagship IPA, it’s brewed old-school style with a dry body and plenty of bitterness as well as a pronounced citrus note. 6.9% ABV / 80 IBU
