Here is a WW1 German Camo Helmet that appears to have been used by a Medic, there looks to be a Cross on the front, perhaps the helmet was camo'd after the cross was put on, and that's way you can only see the outline, in the proper light it is much clearer.
Sorry for the light in the cabinate photo, it is morning here, and the light is bright, that's way I have filters on the back and side glass.
