Dear Wareham Families,

If you have a student at Wareham Middle School, you may have heard your child mention “Viking Time.” Viking Time is a new concept, initiated by WMS Principal, Dr. Peter Steedman. Dr. Steedman wanted to offer an opportunity in which students and teachers at WMS could engage in conversations about current events, school initiatives and topics of interest. It is a way to bring the school community together around a common theme each week and to allow time for meaningful discussions.

Viking Time is held each Wednesday during the engagement block. Students, teachers, and administrators are getting involved planning these unifying discussions. During the week of World Peace Day, teacher Kim Scott created a Viking Time lesson for WMS to prepare for the One Day, One Goal event. Dr. Steedman created a Viking Time lesson to give students background information and history about Beijing, China in advance of this month’s Global Education student exchange program. WMS student, Indiana Troupe, created a lesson about Fuel Up to Play 360. Another Viking Time lesson centered around being media savvy when watching television, reading articles and perusing social media during this election season.

Only two months into the school year and this new practice at WMS has become a highly anticipated weekly event. I look forward to hearing about new topics proposed by members of the WMS school community for future Viking Times lessons.

Do you have an idea for Viking Time? If so, please contact Dr. Steedman at psteedman@wareham.k12.ma.us.

Best wishes for a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,

Dr. Kimberly Shaver-Hood

Wareham HS DECA

1 AnnualMattressSaleFundraiser!!

Saturday October 22nd

Our Wareham High School DECA Program will be sponsoring our first annual mattress sale on Saturday, October 22nd. This one-day fundraiser will be held in the Wareham High School Gym from 10am to 5pm and profits from this sale will help pay for competitive events and fund trips that would otherwise be unavailable for the students in the WHS DECA Program.

This has been a very successful fundraiser in local school districts for the past 10 years and we are very excited to be able to sponsor this event here for Wareham High School for the first time.

Three major, national brands will be available: Simmons Beautyrest, Restonic, & Therapedic. They are all brand new with guaranteed manufacturer warranties and will discounted 30% – 50% off retail off retail giving the community an opportunity to purchase the same brand new, name brand mattresses that are found in stores, but at lower prices with full manufacturer warranties. Much higher quality for price than a retail store!

There will be 24 different mattress sets to choose from, available in all sizes, price ranges, delivery and free lay-a-way will be available. Styles include plush sets, pillow-top sets, latex, memory foam, gel beds, and Adjustable Beds. Bed frames, luxury pillows and mattress protectors are also available

Floor models will be on display at Wareham High School Gym from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, October 22.

Every purchase benefits the students, so if you, or anyone you know is in the market for a new mattress or could replace another mattress in your home…check out this fundraiser!! If you need a new mattress before this sale or have any questions, please contact Jack Isaacs of Custom Fundraising Solutions at jisaacs@customfundraisingsolutions.com.
