Just a couple of weeks ago, Ward Goodman’s Audit and Accounts Department Manager, Jen Richardson announced she would be taking part in the 2016 solo 5km Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Swimathon. A challenge that has enthused more than 20,000 swimmers to take part this year, raising money to change lives both in the UK and some of the poorest communities.

Jen is running a sweepstake here at the Ward Goodman office to guess her time, with 50% of the proceeds going to the Sport Relief Charity and the other 50% going to the lucky winner. She has taken part in several fund-raising swimming events both in the pool and in open water and has a few statistics of her best and longest swims. It was inevitable then, that her colleagues, being mostly accountants and financial advisers, would dash for their calculators to try and accurately predict how long it would take her based on her previous swims.

But even with the very best calculations, the winning time may be hard to predict as Jen sings to help keep the rhythm and although ‘Nellie The Elephant’ is her best tune, she has a repertoire of faster and slower music to entertain her as she swims for #TeamGreenSwim.

Jen’s swim is set to take place this Friday at the Ferndown Leisure Centre, one of more than 600 swimming pools across the UK taking part. Thousands of swimmers are signed up and we at Ward Goodman, wish them and the pool staff and volunteers from the local community, the very best of luck.
