Wapakoneta's own Brian Garman, of the Milwaukee Brewers, and Lacey Detrick, ice skating champion, will be participating in the event. Detrick will be available from noon - 1 p.m.
Salon Gegel is a 2013 graduate of Wapakoneta High School and currently a freshman at Bowling Green STate University, she is in the honors program and is soon to be a double major in dance and business. Her goal is to open her own dance studio. Her hobbies include dancing, acting, singing and reading. She loves old TV shows, the theater and 80s movies. Salon has been named First Runner Up two years in a row in the Miss Summer Moon Scholarship Pageant earning $1,000 in scholarship monies.
Emily Kaiser, daughter of Jim and Pam Kaiser, will be there, representing the Augiaze County Fair as the 2013 Auglaize County Fair Queen. She recently graduated from New Bremen High School, where she enjoyed herself participating in her 4-H club County Crossroads, where she has served as president; Junior Fair Board, where she served as a news reporter; camp counseling; National Honors Society; dance; and marching band, where she served as a two-year color guard captain. She continues her education at Ashland University where she majors in English and Creative WRiting and continues her color guard career. She is honored to represent the great Auglaize County, and she continues to tell all of her friends how awesome her county is and how much 4-H has influenced her life.
Kelsey Barrett is currently a sophomore performing arts major at ONU. In her time at ONU, she has been in Reefer Madness, the ONU Holiday Spectacular, Nine and is currently in Zombie Prom in the role of CoCo. She will once again be performing in the ONU Holiday Spectacular the weekend of the Children's Hometown Holiday. Kelsey was a 2012 graduate of WHS where she was active in soccer, ShowChoir and the high school musicals. She was Miss Ohio's Outstanding Teen 2011 , making the top 12 in the Miss America's Outstanding Teen National contest on Orlando. She placed in the top ten last summer at the Miss Ohio Scholarship Program.
Heather Wells is a 24-year-old graduate of Kent State University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. She is currently continuing her education at KSU, working toward a Master's degree in nutrition. She hopes to pursue a career in media working as a health correspondent.
During her undergraduate studies, Heather was a member of the Undergraduate Student Government working on the Allocations Committee, a news anchor for TV2-KSU news and student choreographer for the Student Dance Festival.
Heather has been dancing since the age of three and was a competitive dancer for 13 years. She has performed in various locations across the country, such as Boston, Atlantic City and Walt Disney World. Heather also graduated from KSU with a minor in dance.
Heather began competing in the Miss America Scholarship Program in 2007 as an opportunity to dance and perform all while obtaining scholarship money to help pay for school. Throughout the years of competing, she has accrued $30,000 in scholarship money.
Heather's personal platform is Divorce Recovery for Youth, a program designed to help children better understand a parent's divorce. Heather struggled as a child and teenager with divorce, so she created a program to help kids understand what divorce means for a family and that it is an adult problem.
Divorce Recovery for youth is a Five-point-Star program that focuses on understanding divorce, knowing it's never a child's fault, managing feelings, communication and forgiveness. Working with schools, the YMCA and Boys and Girls clubs, Heather enjoys helping children of all ages overcome the same obstacles that she once did.
Ali Wayman is an eighth grader at Wapakoneta High School. She was "Little Miss Ohio" in 2011. She has danced at The Dance Centre for 11 years with 6 years in dance company. She has one brother, Drew Jr., at WHS. She loves being with her friends and family and dancing! She believes in living every day to its fullest and that every girl can be a princess.
Jocelyn Campbell is 2013 Miss Summer Moon. The 18-year-old is the daughter of Tami and Terry Campbell. She is a 2013 graduate of Wapakoneta High School and graduated with honors. Currently she is a freshman at Bowling Green University majoring in Dietetics.
She is very active in dance on campus loves reading and spending time with friends.
Interesting note — The first thing she did as queen was to lay her winning bouquet of flowers on Neil Armstrong's parents' gravesite and then her bouquet from her parents she placed on her grandfather's gravesite.
Haley Aldrich, daughter of Kimberly and James Aldrich, was named "Most Spirited" at MSM Pageant in 2013. She is a senior at Wapakoneta High School, a member of the Marching Band, Choir, and SIngsation. She enjoys dancing, singing, reading and babysitting.
Haley's goal is to attend OSU for nursing and then specialize in Obstetrics or Oncology.
Karli Schneider, 18, is a senior at Wapakoneta High School. She is the daughter of Gretchen and Mark Schneider. She was the Third Runner-up Miss Summer Moon 2013, Most Photogenic MSM 2013. She is a four-year scholar athlete, a four-year academic award and a member of the National Honor Society. Her hobbies include sports, piano, singing, boating, running and scrapbooking. Her goal is to attend a four-year University majoring in Early Childhood Education.
