Has it ever happened to you? You go to the salon and you get this perfect blowout that makes you feel ready to take over the world. You try to make it last as long as you can, because you know that as soon as you wash your hair it will be gone forever, but no matter what you do, by day three you give up and say goodbye to your hairdo. Well, we can’t make it last forever, but here’s how you can make that perfect blowout last for seven perfect days. The trick is in learning how to style your hair to work with your natural oils, not against them.
First day – Get that perfect blowout. Wash your hair as you normally would, dry it as usual and then proceed to blow it out. Apply a bit of volumizing mousse for that extra kick and use a big round brush to blow-dry. This way you’ll have gorgeous volume and bounce all day long.
Second day – Your hair is still clean and looking amazing, so you don’t need to do much. The shape of the blowout will be a bit off, so it’s a good idea to re-style your hair, without using heat. Use hairspray and scrunch a little your strands to form loose waves that will have all the movement. If you are not happy with the hair around your face, a headband can take care of that.
Third day – Squeeze that last day of bounce out of your hair by tying it up on a mid-height pony tail. Use a strand of hair to hide the elastic for that extra touch of class and use some shine spray on the middle and ends of your hair so each bounce will perfectly capture the light.
Fourth day – This is where it starts to get tricky, but you don’t need to wash yet. Use dry shampoo on your roots and work it in with your finger. You can even do this the night before to avoid shedding powdery shampoo during the day. Get the hair out of your face with a half ponytail or twist two sections of the front and pin them back.
Fifth day – The good thing about unwashed hair is that it has a better grip. Harness it for a messy updo. Use volumizing spray all over your hair to tussle your mane. Pull it into a messy bun and secure with twist pins so it stays in place. The perfectly imperfect hairstyle.
Sixth day – We are almost there. Keep using dry shampoo to soak up the oils in your hair. You can use a round brush at night to brush out residual products and extend the time before you need to wash your hair. Use serum on the mids and ends to tame your frizz and pull your hair into a side twist or braid.
Seventh day – By now, you are probably pushing it, but you can still get one more day out of your hair. Use serum to smooth down your hair for a really sleek style and pull it into a low bun. The perfect way to fight against oily hair: use it in your favor.
