FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) For the second year, Prairie Farms is giving back to a local family through its milk and cookie contest. Enter your favorite cookie for Santa and you could win milk for a year.

The last day to sign up for the competition is Christmas Eve at 2 p.m. Prairie Farms will do a random drawing and the winner will get a year-supply of free milk, or a gallon per week. The winner will be announced on First News, Dec. 26. The company hopes to make the contest a tradition.

Prairie Farms is locally owned by farmers and the milk produced at its plant on Lima Road is distributed to locations within 90 miles.

Every year, Prairie Farms also offers specialty holiday milk flavors including Pumpkin Spice, Eggnog, Peppermint Mocha, Chocolate Mint and Snicker doodle. Prairie Farms offered Peeps milk in the spring and it won a national award as the new product of the year.

Our Caps Your Cause is another way to give back this holiday. The campaign gives the customer their choice of the nonprofit organization they want to donate to. Organizations have to be registered and accepted by Prairie Farms. Customers will peel the cap back on the gallon of milk and enter in the code, selecting the registered organization. Prairie Farms gives a nickel for every cap participants turn in.

“We want to be involved and we want to give to what is near and dear to your heart,” Chuck McQuaig, General Manager of Prairie Farms said.

So far, Prairie Farms has donated more than $30,000 as part of Our Caps Your Cause.
