Skoda UK just reported its June numbers and the Czech brand’s star is rising. With record registrations so far this year in the UK, the temptation to expand might look more attractive, too.

Between January and June, Skoda UK had more than 42,000 registrations, 7% more than in the same period last year. A little over 9,000 of those registrations came in June alone, an 11% rise over 2015.

Sales are being helped along by the Fabia, with an impressive 23% more registrations in the first six months of this year, and the Superb, with a staggering 71% more registrations.

More impressive still, this comes amid a dip in the overall market. As a result, Skoda has increased its share of the car market in the UK.

The strong numbers extend to customer orders—which also hit a record high—and the fleet and retail sectors. When we last heard the rumors of expansion, it was well before these record numbers had been achieved.

“This is a thrilling result,” says Duncan Movassaghi, Brand director. “This is a healthy foundation from which we will build the brand. With the imminent arrival of Kodiaq, our large seven-seater SUV, everyone in Skoda is excited about the future.”
