AWSNA – Typhoon Haiyan Relief

Dear Friends,

The damages of Typhoon Haiyan on November 8 are beyond words: 10,000 people are estimated to have died, countless have lost their homes, and up to 4 million children have been in some way touched by it.

The Manila Waldorf School was fortunately not struck by the typhoon. The Gamot Cogon School (Steiner School) in Zarraga, near Iloilo, was hit less directly than other areas, but the heavy rains did cause serious flooding and falling trees damaged the school’s roof, leaving the school without power for several days.

The Friends of Waldorf Education are helping typhoon victims through trauma educational work. A team of German volunteers and local Filipino helpers are on-site now. They arrived in Cebu, close to badly-hit Leyte Island, and will work with people in the catastrophe area.

You can support the victims of the natural disaster and the emergency educational task force through your donation on Friends of Waldorf Education.

In service,

Beverly Amico,

AWSNA Leader of Outreach and Development
