MIDLOTHIAN –– The VSGA’s popular series of One-Day events, open to all golfers, are ready to swing into action, with more than 100 events on the schedule for the 2014 campaign.

VSGA One-Day events are fun-filled and  consist of 18 holes of individual stroke play, as well as four-ball (two-person) events with a full VSGA/USGA Handicap Index. Individual events are flighted by age, while four-ball (two-person) events are flighted by a golfer’s Handicap Index.

In the four-ball (two-person) format, each player plays his or her ball into the hole, but only the best score is counted toward the team aggregate. The $56 entry fee for VSGA members ($76 for non-VSGA members) includes a golf cart, green fees and prizes. Golfers have the opportunity to play some of the best private and daily-fee layouts in Virginia and there are a host of new sites on the schedule for 2014.

Whether you’re a beginner or a tournament player, all you have to do is sign up, show up and tee it up.

The VSGA One-Day program offers something of a boon to golfers and golf courses. On one hand, participants have the opportunity to enjoy some clubs that they might not be able to access otherwise. On the other hand, clubs draw revenue from hosting the One-Days and have the chance to attract potential new members by showing off their clubhouse, course and other facilities. The VSGA coordinates all One-Day field sizes with the host club. However, each club makes the final determination on the maximum field size for any given VSGA One-Day event.
