Virtual reality (VR) fans have plenty to be excited about for this year’s Game Developers Conference (GDC) when it takes place on 2nd – 6th March. The event, which is hosted inside the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California, USA, will feature a number of VR-related talks from industry figureheads as well as showcases of the latest head-mounted displays (HMD) and compatible software. One developer speaking at the event is Doron Kanaan, who will be hosting a range of roundtable discussions on the technology throughout the week.

Kanaan’s sessions are labelled ‘Virtual and Augmented Reality Roundtable‘ and will be taking place on the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of GDC. Kanaan’s past work includes Rose: Time Apart, an Oculus Rift compatible videogame that recently failed to secure Kickstarter funding. He also works as head developer at Edge-mt, creating VR and augmented reality (AR) marketing projects. It’s not yet clear who else will be featured in these roundtable discussions.

“In the past year we have seen a huge boom of virtual and augmented reality technology and the new availability of products like Oculus Rift, Google Glass, Dive, Google Cardboard, and Project Morpheus,” the events official description reads, “Doran will conduct a guided and open discussion about the challenges of developing and designing virtual and augmented reality games. Expect to get technical. Doran will try to cover topics like game design challenges, environmental building challenges, motion sickness, location based games, and also compare various hardware and talk about existing and upcoming games from experienced developers who will attend this session.”

Both Oculus VR and Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) are expected to be at GDC showcasing the Oculus Rift and Project Morpheus HMDs respectively. VRFocus will be at GDC to deliver all of the latest updates on the technology.
