No Man’s Sky is a new online multiplayer game.  It is expected to release on August 9th 2016. No Man’s Sky is a open world exploration game. It is for PS4 and PC. According to the development team there are going to be about 18 quintillion planets, which makes this game unique. You can play alone or with friends. Since No Man’s Sky is a very popular game you might experience some lag, slow connections, and maybe even firewalls restricting you from playing. To help solve these problems I would recommend a VPN.

A VPN will allow you to change you IP address to another location from the server you select. If you pick a location close to the game server you play on then you will have reduced lag and faster connection times. Also since it is not your public IP you will be able to get around any firewalls that will keep you from playing No Man’s Sky from work or school. More competitive players will also appreciate the extra DDoS protection.

No Man’s Sky has you start on a random planet and the likelihood of someone else spawning on the same planet is small. You must explore to either find a ship, steal a ship, or to settle on the planet. This planet you will end up on will probably be barren, but if there are some animals and plants you will want to be careful. Some animals are hostile, while some of the plants are poisonous. The main reason to stay clear of these things is the Sentinels. They are the police of space. The Sentinels are not everywhere, but they are very persistent. If you mess with the animals, plants, or resources on the planet then you will be a wanted man. You will not be pursued if you only messed with the planet a little, but the more you do the more you will be hunted down. If you are wanted you will be on the run from the police all the time and you might even be considered a space pirate.

If you don’t want to be chased then you should not do anything illegal. And if you are thinking how are you suppose to make money without participating in piracy, then you have nothing to fear. You can become a bounty hunter and collect the bounties on other players and bots heads.

Another option to make money (units) is by selling weapons, ships, and resources on the market. You can also trade with people. Bots use trading routes so if you can find one then you might be able to make a lot of cash by pillaging their ships. To get items to trade you will have to craft them. You will also have to use your resources to help upgrade your ship and skills to get the ability to craft better and more valuable items.

In No Man’s Sky the most important thing is your ship. You will need your ship to attack opponents, defend yourself, and travel around the universe. To travel you will need to have fuel and manage it good enough so that you can keep from being stranded. You will need to take care of your ship and upgrade it to survive. You can only have one ship at a time so any time you buy a new ship you will loose your old one.

In No Man’s Sky the way you play will affect you. If you play your cards right then you will be able to get a faction of the universe to support and help you on your adventures. These factions can really help you if you are in a tight pinch and need backup.

Note: No Man’s Sky is a online multiplayer, but since the size of the universe is so big you may find it hard to find other players online. As for meeting up with friends you will have to get lucky. As of now you will both have to find the same planet and then warp to it. Once together you can help each other and try to conquer your enemies using teamwork.

No Man’s Sky is an online multiplayer that has about 18 quintillion planets. You will have to survive using your wits. You can team up with factions and other people to conquer enemies. You will fly around the universe on a quest to discover as many planets as you can. When you find your friends and team together you will have a huge advantage. With that advantage you will be an even more efficient pirate, bounty hunter, or anything else you want to strive to be. Overall No Man’s Sky is going to be a very fun and interesting game that I am sure you and your friends will enjoy.

Once again I recommend using a VPN to play No Man’s Sky. A VPN will give you an IP address from the server location you choose. It will also improve performance by lowering your ping and reduce lag.  A VPN will also protect you from DDoS attacks. It will help you get past geographical restrictions and the firewalls at school or work.

How to Use a VPN to Play No Man’s Sky

I’ll use IPVanish for the example of how to use a VPN service to play No Man’s Sky.  First you’ll want to download the VPN client.  IPVanish offers free client software for Windows, Mac and Linux.  In addition to free apps for iOS and Android.

Now that you’ve had a chance to download and install the software it’s time to connect.  Launch the IPVanish client and select a server location.  We’ll walk you through step by step using their Windows client.

Select a server location.  We chose Atlanta but IPVanish has a large network of servers located around the world.

We recommend you select OpenVPN (TCP) or (UDP).  For streaming videos from sites like YouTube we use OpenVPN (UDP).  They also support PPTP and L2TP.  We still recommend OpenVPN for the best privacy protection.

Click connect.  After a few seconds you’ll see the button at the top change to green and show “Disconnect”.  You’ll also notice the server location and IP address show up at the top of the client.

We’re now located in the U.S. as far as anyone can tell online.  As such we can reach any site as if sitting in Atlanta.  The same would be true if we connected to a server in the UK or anywhere else in the world.

That’s all there is to it.  Now that you have an IP address from the IPVanish server in the United States you can browse the Internet and play online games as if you were actually there.  The same is true from any country.  Connect to a server in the United Kingdom to watch BBC iPlayer or another country to watch Netflix content in that region.

As you can probably tell by now a good VPN opens access to content around the world. If you live outside the United States the service can help you access popular services like Netflix, Hulu and Pandora. You still need an account for services like Netflix but the VPN will help you watch US television shows and movies on Netflix as if you were sitting in the United States or any other region you would like to access.

How to Use a VPN to Play No Man’s Sky PS4

Once again I’ll use IPVanish for the example of how to use a VPN service to play No Man’s Sky online.  They are my favorite VPN for gaming because IPVanish manages their own network which makes the service faster and more reliable than most providers.  You can also view our Top 10 VPN list for more options.

The first step to getting set up with IPVanish is normally to download the client software for your system.  IPVanish offers free client software for Windows, Mac and Linux.  In addition to free apps for iOS and Android.  Obviously that won’t work for PS4  since the game consoles lack the native support for VPN.  Luckily, there is still a way to encrypt your gaming traffic and send it through a VPN.  The answer is running the VPN through your router.

Depending on what brand and model of router you use, it might support third party VPN services.  If so you can get the necessary information from your VPN provider to set up a PPTP or L2TP connection through your router.  Otherwise I highly recommend FlashRouters.  The FlashRouters team takes popular, brand name routers and flashes them with DD-WRT or Tomato firmware.  That allows the devices to have far more features than they would with the factory firmware installed.  All FlashRouters come pre-configured with support for VPN.

Enjoy all the excitement as you play No Man’s Sky online.  Please share this post with your friends so they can enjoy gaming from anywhere in the world with a VPN.  Follow us @VPNFan for the latest deals and guides.
