One need only look to the streets of New York to see that Gucci has this particular moment in fashion in its grips. Uptown and down, women are wearing designer Alessandro Michele’s horse-bit slides and logo bags with what they love, taking pieces of his beautifully madcap Fall collection and mixing it liberally—and so confidently—with closet staples (blue jeans, button-downs), vintage, and even athletic wear. Our subjects, like the artist Carlotta Kohl, the singer Okay Kaya (née Kaya Wilkins), the chef Lexie Smith, and the model Barbie Ferreira, are among the most exciting and talented young New Yorkers we know. Their style is singular and unparalleled, and what they do with Gucci’s embroidered denim, animal-emblazoned handbags, and quirky little jackets and dresses is a delight.
