Edo Guber: Few Hours To Election, No Police Commissioner – PDP
Ahead of the Edo State Gubernatorial elections slated for tomorrow, Wednesday, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed concern over the failure of the police command to deploy a commissioner of Police in the state.
In a statement issued by the party’s national spokesman, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, the party said that it was worried over attempts to compromise the security apparatus of Edo State.
Recall that few days ago, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Finihan Adeoye, was relieved of his duties over his alleged refusal to compromise the elections.
The PDP also declared that the early distribution of some non-sensitive electoral materials by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Edo State for the governorship polls, poses a threat to the conduct of free, fair and credible election.
The party said, “These materials are traditionally distributed the day before elections to prevent them from being cloned or copied by people keen to disrupt the electoral process.
“We are aware that some of these non-sensitive electoral materials are being presently cloned in the APC Situation Room in Benin City, with the aim of distributing same to thugs who will have right of free movement onElection Day and possibly disrupt elections in PDP’s strongholds.
“In addition, we are worried by the attempts to compromise the security apparatus of the state as evinced by the replacement of the commissioner of Police in Edo State , an unprecedented three times in the last three weeks. The State Police Command is currently without a commissioner less than 72 hours to the election.
“Yesterday evening, we received reports from reliable sources of the movement of hundreds of thugs in about 20 BRT buses into Benin City. These thugs have apparently been brought from other states to disrupt the election in the state.”
– A head of Edo governorship election we want to encourage good people of edo state the should come out and exicise their franchise by voting a leader not a ruler.
Therefore they should shown violence. election matters is not a do or die affairs but to elect a credible person whom is going to governing the state.our democracy is a baby democracy democracy, is not by using thugs, or using millitancy, or manipulation, rigging. Democracy about govt of people.
Finally advice to INEC inec, should conduct free and fair election and the should avoid inconclusive election whosoever win let inec should declare him as a winner. We wish you a successful pol.
