In case you’re new around here, let me tell you – I LOVE coffee. My husband and I generally brew a pot of coffee each morning, but there are times throughout the day and afternoon that I’d love to have just one more cup. I never indulge myself though because the idea of brewing just one cup doesn’t seem worth it in our large 12-cup coffee maker. I’ve always wanted to try a Keurig brewer, so when they reached out to me about reviewing the Keurig K45 Elite Brewing System I jumped at the chance!

Keurig is the leading single cup brewing system in North America, and there’s good reason. They’ve designed their machines to provide gourmet coffee drinkers with the perfect cup, day in and day out. The thought process behind their brand is that good coffee should be served fresh, just like at a gourmet coffee house. By using Keurig’s single cup brew technology, you’re getting the freshest cup possible with the added bonus of convenience and very little clean-up. It sounded like a dream to me and I couldn’t wait to give this machine a try.
The first thing I noticed about the Keurig K45 Elite Brewer was that it’s a beautiful looking machine. Sleek and sophisticated, yet not overwhelming. There are several helpful indicator lights on top of the machine and you can choose between three cup sizes for your brew. You can even remove the drip tray to accommodate a travel mug. The brewer is automatic and features an energy-saving mode with an automatic shut off.
There’s a 48 ounce removable water reservoir on the side of the machine so you’ll have plenty of water on-hand for multiple brews. This is especially handy for large get-togethers or an office setting. The Keurig K45 Elite System features a water filtration system to ensure a great tasting cup of coffee (or tea, cocoa, or even an iced beverage!). This includes a water filter handle and a charcoal filter. The filter should be changed approximately every 2 months or 60 fills of the water reservoir. The filter handle has a fantastic “replacement due” dial that you can set to remind yourself when a replacement filter is needed.
The Keurig K45 Elite Brewing System comes with a Bonus 12 Count Keurig variety sampler so you can start using your brewer right away. There’s a variety of flavors to choose from including: Green Mountain Coffee® Breakfast Blend, Green Mountain Coffee® Hazelnut, Green Mountain Coffee® Nantucket Blend®, Caribou Coffee® Caribou Blend, The Original Donut Shop® Regular, The Original Donut Shop® Decaf, Eight O’Clock® The Original, Starbucks® Pike Place® Roast, Barista Prima Coffeehouse® Italian Roast, Celestial Seasonings® English Breakfast Black Tea, Cafe Escapes® Chai Latte, and Swiss Miss® Milk Chocolate Hot Cocoa. My husband wanted to try the first cup, so I read through the directions quickly and started brewing.
The great thing about the Keurig system is that it takes the guess work out of making coffee. No more fumbling with a measuring spoon early in the morning. No more second guessing whether it should be an even or heaping tablespoon per cup. Just press power and the water will automatically heat up. Then, pop the K-cup into place, press the handle down, and select your cup size. That’s it! Thanks to the Quiet Brew Technology, your Keurig will quietly brew a perfect beverage for you.
As we hoped, the Keurig K45 Elite Brewing System worked like a charm and provided us with perfect coffee in just under a minute. You really cannot beat that! I absolutely love the sampler pack of K-cups we received and have really had fun trying all of the varieties. That’s another great feature of this machine – variety! My husband and I prefer hazelnut flavored coffee, but a lot of times our house guests don’t enjoy that and we end up making several pots of coffee to please everyone. With the Keurig, everyone can choose their favorite flavors and there’s no waste or wait time, plus everyone gets a fresh cup!
