If you have planned a trip to Dubai, a visit to the city’s spectacular beaches will no doubt be on your holiday agenda. Beaches are loved by adults and kids alike, but whereas adults will want to relax and soak up the sun, your kids may have other ideas.

Fortunately, there are loads of beach games and activities which will keep kids entertained for hoursand – if you like – you can join in with them too. Below, we’ve picked a few of our all-time favourite beach games and activities for kids:

Sandcastle sculpting

Perhaps one of the most traditional beach activities, sandcastle sculpting is fantastic fun for kids, who can spend endless hours creating animals, castles and other objects using sand, sea, and a bucket and spade. Perhaps you could suggest a couple of ideas for their next sculpture, or have a competition for who can build the best castle.

Sand art

A beach is basically just a big, blank sandy canvas waiting to be drawn on by your kids. What’s more, they don’t need any tools to do it – just their fingers and their imagination! If you wanted to join in, you could take it in turns to guess what you are both drawing, and if there are more than two of you, the points go to whoever answers first!

You could also go with your child to collect some beach materials – such as pebbles, shells and driftwood – and make a picture using all of them.

The aiming game

Draw different sizes circles in the sand along with a straight line for your children to stand behind. Then, using pebbles they have collected, get them to try and throw them into the circles, starting with the bigger target first and working down. You could join in with this game too, but make sure you start from a little further back.

Beach ball volleyball

Make volleyball kid-friendly buy using a much softer and much lighter beach ball instead. This game is best played when the beach isn’t over-crowded and there’s little wind. Draw the pitch outline in the sand and make sure you get involved! Beach ball volleyball is fun for all the family, just make sure you play fair and don’t have all the adults on one team.
