When Vi Director Rachael Novak moved to a new area, she started a Challenge Group in hopes of growing her network and increasing her exposure. At the same time, she wanted to meet like-minded individuals who shared her passion for health and fitness. “As a mom of two kids under five years old, I wanted to connect with other moms and inspire them to take care of themselves the way they take care of their kids every day,” Rachael said. It was this idea that inspired the group name, “Moms Making Time [for Fitness].” From Three to 160 Members Within several weeks, Rachael had grown her three- to four-member group to over 160 members through referrals. A month later, she began offering free workouts in the park where she saw as many as 14 women attend. “I was a local CrossFit coach at the time, and was hoping to inspire women to push themselves mentally and physically—more than they would going on a walk themselves,” said Rachael. “So I included a lot of plyometric work including bench step-ups, pushups, squats, sprints, line drills, etc.” From Group to Venture With the successful turnout of Rachael’s group, she left CrossFit and started ...
