(Originally Published in the Sharia TipSheet – Jan 2017)

In October 2016, the Sharia TipSheet attended a presentation on refugee resettlement given at a Catholic Church in Arlington, Virginia.  The presentation was written up in the TipSheet and elsewhere.

But what happened after the presentation is equally of interest.  The parish priest hosting the presentation was confronted with assertions that the Catholic Church is cooperating with Muslim Brotherhood front groups.  The TipSheet looked on as the priest ridiculed the notion as a conspiracy theory.  The TipSheet then asked the priest if he would review evidence if it was put before him, and he said yes.

The TipSheet hand-delivered the letter below containing a wealth of evidence to the priest in December 2016, cc’ing the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Arlington.  The letter posed three questions at the end and gave the priest and Bishop ample opportunity to refute the claims made therein.

THERE WAS NO RESPONSE, either from the priest or the Bishop.  The evidence assembled stands UNREBUTTED.  They did not even respond to the TipSheet’s offer to supply the documenting links by email.  Evidently, they lack all curiosity and are not the least bit troubled by the prospect that their organization collaborates in various ways with known front groups of a recognized terrorist organization.

Some might view the letter below as doing harm to the Catholic Church.  The TipSheet refers readers to the scene in the movie ‘Spotlight’ where one character says the journalist’s investigation into child sex abuse by Boston-area priests was harming the Catholic Church.  The journalist responded by saying that NOT to investigate is what would harm the Catholic Church.  Similarly, the Church needs to clean up its act, disassociate itself from the Muslim Brotherhood entirely, and stop putting government contracts at the center of its activities if it is to retain any credibility as spiritual leader of its flock.

HAND-DELIVERED

Rev. Ramel O. Portula, C.I.C.M., Pastor

St. Ann Roman Catholic Church

5312 10th St. N.

Arlington, VA 22205

Dear Father Portula:

This is in reference to your promise to review evidence showing cooperation between the Catholic Church and Muslim Brotherhood front groups.  You made the promise to me after the presentation on refugee resettlement held at St. Ann’s on October 17, 2016 during which the presenters conveniently neglected to mention the hundreds of millions of dollars Catholic entities are getting from the government for resettling refugees (e.g., U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops Migration Fund 2014 Annual Report – almost $80 million in federal grants).

Evidence of Muslim Brotherhood / Catholic cooperation follows.  Please respond to the questions set forth below by December 18, 2016. (Ask for this letter by email to get all the links to the documentation – tips@liberato.us).

After the presentation on October 17th, I watched an exchange between you and someone else in which you made the astounding claim there have been no terrorist attacks in Arlington.  As you surely know, the 9/11 hijackers slammed a plane into the Pentagon in Arlington in 2001, killing 189 people.  In the exchange, you doubled over with laughter when it was suggested that Catholic entities are cooperating with Muslim Brotherhood front groups, dismissing the notion as ‘just a conspiracy theory.’ You asked rhetorically, ‘If this is true, don’t you think the Bishop would know about it?’  You also displayed your complete ignorance of the history of the Dar Al-Hijrah mosque in Falls Church – the “terror mosque” headed in 2001 by the al-Qaeda recruiter Anwar al-Awlaki and attended by two of the 9/11 hijackers.  Moreover, you were unaware of the Holy Land Foundation trial – the largest terrorism financing trial in U.S. history – and the cache of Muslim Brotherhood documents found in a hidden sub-basement in Annandale in 2004 entered into evidence during the trial.  The documents included the Explanatory Memorandum written in 1991 detailing the Muslim Brotherhood’s secret plan to make America fall to the Islamists.  In the Muslim Brotherhood’s own words:

“The process of settlement is a ‘Civilization-Jihadist Process’ with all the word means. The Ikhwan [Muslim Brotherhood] must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and “sabotaging” its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.” [emphasis added]

Their own words condemn them.  The Muslim Brotherhood – “a radical Egyptian movement that seeks to spread Shariah law globally”- is, in short, a terrorist group.

Cursory research turned up multitudinous avenues of cooperation between Catholic entities and Muslim Brotherhood front groups or terror-related organizations (undoubtedly, there is more evidence to be found):

National Catholic-Muslim Dialogue – The Committee on Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) sponsored the Dialogue, organized in 2016. Regional Catholic-Muslim dialogues include the Mid-Atlantic (partnering with the Islamic Circle of North America [ICNA]), and the Midwest (partnering with the Islamic Society of North America [ISNA]).  ICNA and ISNA are Muslim Brotherhood front groups, as listed in the Brotherhood’s own Explanatory Memorandum.  ICNA hates Jews so much that it threatens them with a repetition of the Holocaust. Jihad Watch  Moreover, “ICNA openly supports militant Islamic fundamentalist organizations, praises terror attacks, issues incendiary attacks on western values and policies, and supports the imposition of Sharia [Islamic law].”  Id.

Interreligious Prayer Gathering for Religious Freedom – The Catholic Diocese of Arlington organized the Gathering, which took place June 27, 2013.  Dr. Sayyid M. Syeed, National Director for Interfaith & Community Alliances for the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) joined the gathering.  His participation was noted in The American Muslim.  ISNA is a Muslim Brotherhood front group, as listed in the Brotherhood’s own Explanatory Memorandum.

Muslim-Catholic Dialogue of Northern Virginia – Signed in 2005, the Dialogue was patterned after a similar interfaith arrangement in Rochester, New York.  The keynote speaker for the fourth anniversary of the Rochester pact was Dr. Abubaker Al-Shingieti, Europe and America director for the International Institute for Islamic Thought in Alexandria, Virginia.  Catholic Courier  The International Institute for Islamic Thought (IIIT) is a Muslim Brotherhood front group, as listed in the Brotherhood’s own Explanatory Memorandum.

Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy – The Catholic Diocese of Arlington lists the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy as a resource.  Reverend C. Douglas Smith of the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy won a Peace & Justice Award from the Muslim American Society in 2007.  The Muslim American Society (MAS) was founded by members of the Muslim Brotherhood and a wealth of other evidence collected at DiscoverTheNetworks.org documents its connections to the Brotherhood.

Interfaith Statement in Support of Comprehensive Immigration Reform – The signatories to this October 14, 2005 statement include:

Islamic Circle of North America

Dr Khurshid Khan, President of the Islamic Circle of North America

Secretary General, Rashid Siddiqui, Islamic Circle of North America

P. Adem Carroll, 9/11 Relief Director Islamic Circle of North America USA (ICNA Relief)

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington, Virginia

Missionhurst-CICM, Arlington, Virginia (an international Roman Catholic missionary organization)

The Islamic Circle of North America is a Muslim Brotherhood front group, as listed in the Brotherhood’s own Explanatory Memorandum.

University of San Diego Panel Discussion – On February 17, 2016, the U.S Conference of Catholic Bishops participated in a panel discussion with the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). ISNA is a Muslim Brotherhood front group, as listed in the Brotherhood’s own Explanatory Memorandum.

ADAMS Center Package Meals – About 50 Muslims from the ADAMS Center (All Dulles Area Muslim Society) worked with more than 130 Catholics from Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in Sterling to pack 35,000 meals for the needy in March 2015.  The Imam and Executive Director of ADAMS is Mohamed Magid, who is also the current President of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). Global Muslim Brotherhood Daily Watch  ISNA is a Muslim Brotherhood front group, as listed by Brotherhood itself in its Explanatory Memorandum.  ADAMS has explicitly been called a Muslim Brotherhood organization.  Center for Security Policy  Federal officials raided ADAMS in 2002 in “Operation Green Quest” because ADAMS was suspected of providing support to terrorists, money laundering, and tax evasion.  Counter Jihad Report

Culmore Clinic – Located caddy-corner from the terror mosque, the nonprofit Culmore Clinic provides healthcare to low-income people of the community.  According to Dar Al Hijrah Islamic Center Community Outreach, “Dar Al-Hijrah Social Services has been instumental [sic] in making this project happen….”

Tahani Jabarin, Social Services Director of the Dar Al Hijrah Islamic Center sits on the board of the Culmore Clinic. A notorious Dar Al Hijrah board member effusively praised the Muslim Brotherhood in a recent Facebook post, according to The Algemeiner.  The story goes on to say:

Esam Omeish was forced to step down from a state immigration commission by then-Virginia Governor Tim Kaine in 2006, after a video of him praising Palestinians for fighting the “jihad way” became public.  He also served as president of the Muslim American Society (MAS), a group founded by the Muslim Brotherhood‘s branch in America.

According to his bio, Omeish is also “former president of the National Muslim Students Association of the US and Canada (MSA)”.  The Muslim Student Association (MSA) is listed as a Muslim Brotherhood front group in the Brotherhood’s own Explanatory Memorandum.  The Muslim American Society (MAS) was founded by members of the Muslim Brotherhood and a wealth of other evidence collected at DiscoverTheNetworks.org documents its connections to the Brotherhood.

The Catholic partners and donors listed above are collaborating with Dar Al Hijrah despite the fact that the terror mosque has not changed its stripes since the 9/11 attacks in 2001.

QUESTIONS

Do you still believe that the Catholic Church’s cooperation with Muslim Brotherhood front groups is just a conspiracy theory? If so, on what basis?

How can you defend your uncritical, unquestioning promotion of Muslim refugee resettlement in the United States by Catholic government contractors in light of the fact that the Ohio State stabber, Abul Razak Ali Artan – quoted as saying “By Allah, I am willing to kill a billion infidels” – was resettled by Catholic Charities?

Do you still think all of this is a laughing matter and, if so, EXPLAIN IT TO US!

Sincerely,

Sharia TipSheet
