Happy Friday everyone!

I have been taking an online class – Mindy Lacefield’s “Neat Stuff” and have been enjoying coming up with wonderful things from my childhood.  Having grown up with a father who suffered from Schizophrenia was challenging so many of my childhood memories can be pretty negative.  The thing is though there were many happy moments, many neat things which stood out which brought me joy that would be healthier to focus on rather than the negative ones.

Our brains tend to be wired for negativity – we seem to gravitate towards the negative (because of past programming).  Doing so only creates neural pathways of negativity (like a groove in a record) where it’s easy to fall back into the pattern of negative thought more so than creating new neural pathways of positivity.  So I thought that Mindy’s class would be the perfect way to remember the good – to conjure up the good and put it somewhere that i can see often so i can get some good neural pathway mojo going! Ha!

Here it is! (edited-Just remembered that i could scan the piece- doh!)

Unfortunately i am having technical difficulties and can’t seem to get a photo of the mixed media piece i created to show you!  I sent it to myself from the i-pad and i-phone and nada – i don’t have it.  Also my camera’s battery is dead so that won’t work. So sorry – i have no image to show you today.  But if you click on the link in the first paragraph it will take you to Mindy’s site so you can check out the luscious mixed media pieces she creates.

Mindy has such a lovely style – naive and yet layered with so much depth, heart and soul.  You would not believe how difficult it is for me to paint in this style – my style is so tight that i felt it would be good to loosen up a bit. In any case i can see i need to work on loosening up a bit and becoming a bit more free in my work!

Off to babysit my little grandson Cillian!

I hope you have a marvellous weekend!

Love, Violette xo
