This is quite a "delayed" post but, well...better late than never!
I just feel like sharing my Lasik surgery experience with none other than the American Eye Center.
I tweeted Ms. Joyce Ramirez of PR Asia Worldwide last June asking her if she could recommend a trusted Lasik provider and the one that she gave me was the American Eye Center.
I've known the American Eye Center since I was young and my mother had also always been telling me to undergo Lasik eye surgery since high school. Back then, I was wearing a -6.00 eyeglasses (that's 600). When I was in college, my eyesight became poorer and it went as worse as -8.00 (that's 800). Prior to having Lasik I had been wearing and buying a pair of -8.00 soft contact lenses every month. I had actually been wearing contact lenses since high school as well so putting them on and removing them were like a bodily routine for me already.
Though, for all of you who also wear contact lenses or even those normal eyeglasses, having these within the boundaries of our eyes are really quite bothersome and, at times, troublesome.
If I was wearing my eyeglasses, I would need to wipe the lenses with clean cloth every so often. If I was wearing my contact lenses, I would need to drop some eye lubricants on my eyes every so often as well so that I won't have itchy, irritated, and dry eyes.
There was really some form of a hassle either way. That's why come this year, 2013, both my mother and I finally decided to make a choice.
A choice to change our "view" of life.
Our choice to undergo Lasik eye surgery with the American Eye Center.
Last July, we had our initial check up at the American Eye Center in Shangri-La Plaza Mall. It's located at the 5th floor if I'm not mistaken.

The entire check up actually took us almost the entire day. It was that tedious. But it wasn't in any way stressful. And, besides, I'd rather have undergone all those tests and screenings prior to the operation than not going through any at all.
As I was waiting for my optometrist I thought of taking photos of the clinic. Do you see those machines over there? I went through all those machines over there as part of the series of tests.
I remember having to use these every time I would need to change my glasses when I was younger.
It kinda looked like a big microscope to me. LOLZ! It was used to check my eyes. Still.
I think that's where I'm supposed to see this big letter "E" and the other smaller letters that come after it.
We were asked to come back again after 1-2 hours for our retina check up. And so my mother and I decided to have our lunch at my favorite Pepper Lunch.
I feel like going to Pepper Lunch again tonight. Teehee!
My mother is somewhat a vegetarian so she made me eat a portion of her meal, too.

BURP! And then we went to Globe.

And then I received a call from the American Eye Center telling us that we could now go back to the clinic.

And then after that we went to the cashier to pay for the tests and the lasik surgery procedure itself. We had our surgery the following weekend. I'll tell you more about it next time.
It had been such a long day so we decided to pass by Red Ribbon in Sta. Lucia Grand Mall to buy some snacks before we went home.
All in all I was really more than satisfied with the kinda service that we received from the staff and specialists who assisted us that day. It felt like we were in a hotel getting all the attention that we needed whereas in fact we were just in an eye clinic. So, I guess you can't treat the American Eye Center as "just" an eye clinic. It's more than that.
The service that we got, the treatment, the attention: SUPERB. I would really suggest and recommend that you visit the American Eye Center for your eye care needs.
I'll tell you more about my lasik surgery experience next time. I'm actually enjoying a perfect 20/20 vision as I'm writing this post right now. Happy client!

As described in our website (AmericanEye.com.ph), eye laser correction is done by
LASER-assisted in situ Keratomileusis (LASIK). For myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness) and astigmatism, LASIK is a superior procedure because of accelerated visual recovery, enhanced quality of post-operative vision, early refractive stability, and minimal post-operative discomfort. LASIK is an outpatient procedure and takes about 15 minutes for both eyes.
We offer All Laser, Blade-Free or Blade-less LASIK with the femtosecond laser in our Greenbelt location.
Our Centers are equipped with the integrated WAVELIGHT® Refractive Suite, the world’s fastest refractive platform featuring the WAVELIGHT® EX500 Excimer Laser and the WAVELIGHT® FS200 Femtosecond Laser or collectively known as the Wavelight Refractive Suite (refractivesuite.com).
It is advisable to come in for a consultation (900 pesos) plus LASIK screening (at no extra cost) so our EyeMDs can discuss your options and determine if you are eligible for the procedure. A retina examination is also done for all patients prior to the procedure (750 pesos). We recommend that you set an appointment for this and allot 2 hours for the complete screening process, which should be done on a separate day from the LASIK surgery day.
Presently, the cost of the All Laser LASIK procedure, regardless of grade, costs 44,500 pesos per eye. This fee covers the facility fee for the excimer laser, the surgeon's professional fee, the initial course of post-LASIK eye medications and the subsequent follow-ups related to the refractive procedure for six months. Payment may be made with cash or credit card. We have tie-ups with major credit card companies for 0% interest deferred payment schemes and discounts.
All Laser LASIK surgeries are usually performed on Tuesdays and Fridays at the Greenbelt location.
For patients residing in other countries, a 3-day stay in Manila is usually sufficient for the screening and LASIK surgery.
Soft contact lenses should be discontinued at least 1 week before the procedure. Rigid gas permeable contact lenses or hard contact lenses should be discontinued at least 6 weeks before the procedure.
