Today we have some fantastic Amiga News for you. WinUAE 3.4.0 Beta has been updated yet again, FS-UAE, another excellent Amiga emulator has been updated and also the sequel to Another World, “Heart Of The Alien Redux” was recently released.

I am a big fan of WinUAE and have been using this emulator for many years. I used to use it stand alone but later on discovered Classic Workbench and WHDLoad, and I have been using all three of these together to this date. There’s nothing like loading up a floppy disk for nostalgia, but the faster loading times and convenience of a virtual hard drive can’t be beat.

The latest beta version for WinUAE is now beta15, and is available for Windows 32bit and 64bit. You can read about the latest changes since beta 14 in the development thread over at EAB Forums.

It is fully controllable with a gamepad and you can easily swap floppies and load save states through the on-screen GUI. In addition to being great on your personal computer, it is also well suited to be started from an emulator frontend running on a HTPC. FS-UAE is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OSX. The latest version is now 2.8.1.

The game tells a story of Lester, a young scientist who, as a result of an experiment gone wrong, finds himself in a dangerous alien world where he is forced to fight for his survival.

Originally developed for the Amiga and Atari ST and later released for the Apple IIGS and MS-DOS, Another World was widely ported to other contemporary systems. Another World was innovative in its use of cinematic effects in both real-time and cutscenes, which earned the game praise amongst critics and commercial success.

Heart of the Alien is a cinematic platformer video game developed by Interplay Entertainment and Virgin Interactive and was released by Virgin Interactive in 1994 for the Sega CD exclusively in North America. It is a sequel to Another World and continues the story directly from where the original ended. The game switches the player’s role from Another World; this time the player takes control of Buddy, the main character’s alien ally from the previous game.

Thanks to Dalibor Javorcek, all of the graphics, levels and sound have been ported from the Sega CD version over to the Amiga. Then “Retroplay” from EAB Forums converted the audio and created an install version of the game, and now the download is available for everyone to enjoy on their Amiga ;) Also you may be happy to know a beta CD32 version was recently released by earok and D.J.M, you can read more about it here and you can download it from the link below.
