VICTORIA COUGARS ENTERTAIN THE WESTSHORE WOLVES

THIS THURSDAY

The Victoria Cougars attempt to remain perfect in regulation as they host the Westshore Wolves on October 18.

Game time at the Archie Browning Sports Centre, located at 1151 Esquimalt Road, is 7:00 p.m.

Victoria (12-0-0-1) is coming off back-to-back wins over the Kerry Park Islanders this past weekend. On Thursday, both Mark Walton and Brody Coulter exploded for three points in a 9-1 win.

48 hours later, Walton and Coulter again recorded three points apiece as the Cougars came out on top 7-1. Jordan Davie, a product of the Okanagan Hockey Academy, chipped in with three points as well.

During the two game set, Victoria outshot Kerry Park 121-44.

Sam Rice and Dane Feeney continue their torrid pace. Both players are riding 13 game point streaks. Goaltender Evan Roch, last year’s recipient of the Ray’s Sports Centre Trophy, leads the league with a 1.83 goals against average. His partner Michael Herringer sits third with a G.A.A. of 2.47.

Thursday’s game marks the third of eight meetings between the Cougars and Wolves.

Rice has been one of the top players against Westshore, registering nine assists in two games. Not far behind are Feeney (4g-4a) and Coulter (4g-3a).

Leading the way for Westshore is Max Mois (2g-0a), Chris McDonald (0g-2a), and Kyle Richter (0g-2a). The Wolves (7-6-0-0) still has one game to play before facing Victoria.

Tonight, the Oceanside Generals make their trek to Bear Mountain Arena for a 7:30 p.m. start.

In their last game, Westshore shut out the Saanich Braves 3-0. Mois lit the lamp twice which included scoring an empty net goal in the last minute of play. Goaltender Alec Dillon, who has been nothing short of spectacular, picked up his fourth win of the season.

The Wolves have won their last four road games. As of Tuesday, Mois leads all Westshore scorers with a league-high 13 goals and seven assists in 13 games.
