The Casual Games Association (CGA) has announced that it will feature the first North American Indie Prize Showcase at its Casual Connect Conference in San Francisco. The event, launched earlier this year at Casual Connect Europe and Asia events, is expected to feature new games from more than 100 indie development teams. The Indie Prize Showcase is a free program created to reward the industry’s top independent development talent with resources, relationships and recognition. For the first North American event, more than 100 games will be featured on-site at Casual Connect by the development teams who created them. Take a look at some of the games already featured – can you spot the Canadian titles?

Many teams win prizes from BlackBerry, Applifter, App-Promo, Clickteam, Unity and WildTangent. Five teams will walk away with Category Indie Prizes awarded by a panel of industry veterans:

Best Art or Character

Best Sound & Music

Best Story or Writing

Most Humorous

Most Innovative

One team will be awarded the Best in Show Indie Prize as selected by Casual Connect and Indie Prize attendees.

“There are developers from all corners of the world that have beautiful ideas,” said Jessica Tams, Managing Director of the Casual Games Association. “By simply creating growth opportunities for top indie talent, we facilitate connections that directly support the growth of our industry.”

Indie Prize, along with Indie Prize Showcase sponsors BlackBerry, Applifier, SponsorPay, Gamestick and Soomla provide selected development teams with free support including lodging assistance, show access and space to show off selected games. Pre-event workshops and mentoring will also be provided via Selfpubd, 5th Planet Games, Playnomics, BlueBat Games, Joju Games, PlayFirst and Perfect World.

Applications for the July Indie Prize Showcase at Casual Connect in San Francisco are due July 16th, 2013. Apply online now for the San Francisco Indie Prize Showcase, or for a future Indie Prize Showcase.
