What makes Bali so stunningly green and beautiful? Well, it is because the island gets nourished with lots of rain for 6 months every year, making it the paradise-like, lush green tropical island as we know it. Bali’s rainy season lasts from October to March. Something to worry about? Not at all! Heavy rainstorms don’t last very long most of the time. What to do on days that it does keep on raining? Actually, there are many fun indoor activities for kids to do during the rainy season in Bali, keeping them happy as ever. We’ve made an overview:
Indoor playgrounds

When it’s raining cats and dogs outside, kids can still run, jump, climb and dance around safely inside one of Bali’s indoor playgrounds. Slides, swings, trampolines and a stack of toys will keep the kids entertained for hours. We made an overview of some great indoor playgrounds around Bali island. Don’t forget to bring a pair of socks!

Waterparks

Well, this is not really an indoor activity but it sure makes a great fun day out in the rain! Who minds the rain when splashing around in the water anyway? All waterparks have showers and restaurants where you can sit high and dry out the rain when you want to take a break from all the swimming and sliding. Here is an overview of waterparks around Bali:

Located in the Canggu Club, kids are in for a full day of fun and learning in a playful way. Cubby House Kids Club is open for kids from 2 to 12 years old. Parents can enjoy some quality time together while the kids are entertained for hours, out the rain. There are lots of toys and activities offered. For the really small ones, there are toys, books, soft tunnels and more to play with under the supervision of the staff. For the older kids, there are game consoles, computers, movies, dress ups and art & crafts equipment.
Kid-friendly museums
Dream Museum Zone Bali
Are the kids not too enthusiastic about going to a museum? This will change their minds! Life-size 3D murals, hand-painted by renowned Korean illusion artists in the Dream Museum Zone. Or, how about stepping in a museum where the world is upside down? It’s all possible! It is thrilling, magical, fun experience and even a bit scary at times when you encounter sharks, giants, and dinosaurs. Be sure to take your camera with you!

Bali Creative Reuse Center
Reuse is a great creative learning center located in Ubud. A place where parents and kids can spend a wonderful day out the rain, hand-crafting things out of recycled waste materials. It is fun, interesting and a great support to planet earth. There are monthly art workshops by local artists, weekly drop-in sessions, and every Sunday between 12-4pm there is a special recycled arts and craft session. Drop in fee IDR 50.000, 1-month membership IDR 200.000, 1 month unlimited IDR 350.000.
Popcorn time @ the cinema in Bali

You cannot go wrong with a trip to the cinema. Get your popcorn & coke and let yourself get entertained for a good 2 hours or so in one of Bali’s cinema’s while the rain keeps pouring outside on the island. Around Seminyak and Kuta there are more than one cinema’s to be found, including a 3D cinema in the Lippo Mall, Kuta. Here is the complete overview:

A visit to one of Bali’s pampering spa’s for a traditional Balinese massage, body scrub, flower bath and pedicure makes the perfect day out of the rain. Why not make it a ‘family spa day’ where moms and daughters or fathers and sons enjoy a traditional spa package together. The boys can go for a reflexology massage while the girls get pretty nail polish on and the whole family goes back to the private villa relaxed and happy. Some spa’s offer special family packages:
