ITINERARY

DAY 1 (02 NOV 2011 WEDNESDAY): HANOI – ARRIVAL (-/-/-)

Arrive at Hanoi international airport by your own flight BR397 landing at 11:35 hrs, you will be welcomed and transferred to hotel. Hotel check-in time is 14:00 hrs and early check-in is subject to availability.

DAY 2 (03 NOV 2011 THURSDAY): HANOI CITY TOUR – WATER PUPPET SHOW (B/L/-)

Visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and his former residence, One-Pillar Pagoda and the Temple of Literature, known as the first university of Vietnam and built more than 1,000 years ago.

Continue the city tour to Museum of Ethnology.

Then drive ahead to visit Tran Quoc pagoda. Take a walking tour in and around the Old Quarters and visit the old house addressed 87 Ma May street.

The tour continues with a visit to the beautiful Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple.

Finish the day with a performance of the famous water puppet show.

DAY 3 (04 NOV 2011 FRIDAY): HANOI – HALONG BAY – OVERNIGHT ONBOARD (B/L/D)

08.30 Pick up at your hotel in Hanoi and transfer to Halong City (without guide).

12.00 – 12.30 Check-in at Bhaya Café, Halong City. Embark on Bhaya Classic for a Welcome Cocktail followed by a cruise briefing.

13.00 – 15.30 Savour a delicious Vietnamese buffet lunch as Bhaya Classic heads to Bai Tu Long Bay passing the towns of Hon Gai and Cam Pha, Oan Lagoon, Mat Quy (Monster Head) and Am Tich (Teapot) Islets and Vung Vieng fishing village

15.30 – 17.00 Visit the fishing village by local rowing boat (01 hour) then return to the vessel for free time at your leisure or join one of the following optional activities:

Kayak into the village or swim near the boat

07.00 Bhaya Classic weighs anchor to cruise through the Bay passing beautiful spots like Trong (Drum), Trinh Nu (Virgin) and Me Cung Caves, Coc Ngoi (Toad) Islet, etc.

08.30 Explore the Surprise Cave (Sung Sot).

09.30 Return to Bhaya Classic. Buffet brunch is served onboard. The vessel cruises leisurely back to harbour.

11.00 Disembark at Bhaya Café, Halong City.

Pick up and transfer back to Hanoi. Upon arrival, drop off at your hotel.

Transfer to Hanoi airport for flight to Dong Hoi by VN1591 (13:50 – 15:20 hrs).

Arrive at Dong Hoi airport, pick up and transfer to visit Phong Nha cave Go through the forest and river, stopping to visit Cung Dinh, Tien and Bi Ky caves.

DAY 6 (07 NOV 2011 MONDAY): PHONG NHA – DMZ – HUE (B/L/-)

In the morning, visit Vinh Moc Tunnels – the bulky and unique system of underground passageways of Vinh Linh and Quang Tri people.

Have lunch at local restaurant.

Transfer to Hue. On the way visit Quang Tri Citadel and Truong Son cemetery – a memorial to 10,000 Vietnamese

Communist soldiers who sacrificed in Truong Son mountain during the war.

Arrive in Hue, check-in hotel.

DAY 7 (08 NOV 2011 TUESDAY): HUE FULL DAY CITY TOUR  (B/L/-)

Visit Royal Citadel, which was constructed by Emperor Gia Long in the style of French military architect Vauban during the first decades of the 1900s. Then visit Khai Dinh Tomb.

Have lunch in the restaurant.

We embark on a boat for cruise up stream on the Perfume River which will give us a taste of the scenic countryside as well as an enjoyable visit beautiful pagoda of Thien Mu. Upon leaving this symbol of Hue we continue navigating to the mausoleum of Emperor Minh Mang, in a tranquil setting of gardens and lakes. Then take a walk to the bustling Dong Ba Market and pass many fantastic eating spots where visitors have a chance to sample some local delicacies.

DAY 8 (09 NOV 2011 WEDNESDAY): HUE – DANANG – HOI AN  (B/L/-)

After breakfast, transfer to Hoi An. Drive pass Hai Van Pass and Lang Co beach. Visit Cham Museum. Lunch in Danang.

Drive South to Hoi An.

Discover Hoi An historic town which used to be a prosperous seaport city during the 16th to 18th centuries. Visit the Phuc Kien hall, famous Japanese Covered Bridges, the 200 years old Tan Ky House, the Chua Ong Pagoda, the vibrant market and the workshop of traditional occupation of Hoi An ancient town. Past many low tiled houses scattered along the small streets and assembly halls, which reflect the town’s multi-cultural past.

DAY 9 (10 NOV 2011 THURSDAY): HOI AN – MY SON – HOI AN (B/-/-)

In the morning, drive to visit My Son, located 69 km southwest of Danang, was an imperial city during the Cham dynasty, between the 4th and 12th centuries. My Son Sanctuary is a large complex of religious relics that comprises more than 70 architectural works. They include temples and towers that connect to each other with complicated red brick designs. The main component of the Cham architectural design is the tower, built to reflect the divinity of the king. On the way back, stop for a short visit to the Sa Huynh Champa Museum in Tra Kieu.

Drive back to Hoi An. Free afternoon to discover the town.

DAY 10 (11 NOV 2011 FRIDAY): HOI AN – DANANG – FLIGHT TO SAIGON (B/-/-)

Pick up and transfer to Danang airport for flight to Ho Chi Minh City by VN1311 (10:30 – 11:40 hrs).

Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City.

DAY 11 (12 NOV 2011 SATURDAY): HO CHI MINH CITY – CU CHI TUNNELS – CITY TOUR (B/L/-)

After breakfast, drive to visit Cu Chi Tunnels (70 km northwest of Ho Chi Minh City), an amazing complex of underground tunnels used during the Vietnam War. There are more than 200 km of tunnels, comprising a main axis system with many branches connecting to underground hideouts, shelters and other tunnels. You have the chance to crawl through this amazing system of tunnels.

Drive back to Ho Chi Minh for having lunch.

In the morning, visit Notre Dame Cathedral and the old Post Office, both magnificent sights from the French colonial period.

Continue the tour to former Presidential Palace. Then visit the War Remnants Museum, and stop at Ben Thanh market for shopping.

DAY 12 (13 NOV 2011 SUNDAY): HO CHI MINH CITY – MEKONG DAY TRIP TO MY THO – CAN THO (B/L/-)

08:00 hrs, pick up at your hotel and take 2 hour drive southwest of Ho Chi Minh City to the Mekong Delta which is known as the rice bowl of Vietnam.

Upon arrival, take a boat cruise around islets and tropical orchards through the canal of Vam Xep to reach a small islet, followed by a relaxing walk along shady and palm fringed trails passing by local villages where you can see their peaceful daily life. Stop en route to visit a bee farm, sip tea with honey and sample fruits with a local family and share their stories of life in the Mekong Delta. Visit a small coconut workshop, just to get a glimpse of typical family run business in this area.

Enjoy the lunch at local restaurant on the islet.

Walk to a lane where a horse-drawn cart awaits you to transfer to visit handicraft village, a coconut candy factory, enjoy tropical fruit, traditional music and then relaxation with rowing boat through the narrow under shade palm, tree-lined canals of Mekong River before returning to My Tho by motorized boat then process to Can Tho.

DAY 13 (14 NOV 2011 MONDAY): CAN THO – CAI RANG – HO CHI MINH CITY (B/L/-)

Early wake up for optional short biking or walking around the village and visiting fruit gardens. After breakfast, cruise along the small and picturesque tributaries by rowing boat to visit the Cai Rang floating market (the nicest one with heaps of rowing boats). Stop at another village to visit a rice husking mill, and walk around the village. See the beautiful scenery and daily activities of the locals. Disembark at Ninh Kieu quay, visit an ancient house (in Binh Thuy, 10 km from Can Tho) and Can Tho museum. Have lunch at a local restaurant on the way back to Sai Gon via My Tho.

Arrive in Saigon in the afternoon. Drop off at your hotel.

Pick up at your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and transfer to the airport for flight to Phu Quoc by VN1813 (10:40 – 11:40 hrs).

Arrive at Phu Quoc airport. Pick up by the shuttle bus (freely offered by the resort) and transfer to the resort for relaxing.

DAY 18 (19 NOV 2011 SATURDAY): ANGKOR THOM – ANGKOR WAT (B/-/-)

In the morning we visit the ancient capital of Angkor Thom (12th century). See the South Gate (with its huge statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk), Bayon Temple (the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. In the afternoon, visit Ta Prohm, one of the most beautiful temples in the area. Ta Prohm has been left relatively untouched since it was discovered and retains much of its mystery and then visit the most famous of all the temples on the Angkor plain: Angkor Wat. The temple complex covers 81 hectares and is comparable in size to the Imperial Palace in Beijing. Its distinctive five towers are emblazoned on the Cambodian flag and the 12th century masterpiece is considered by art historians to be the prime example of classical Khmer art and architecture. Angkor Wat’s five towers symbolize Meru’s five peaks, the enclosed wall represents the mountains at the edge of the world and the surrounding moat symbolizes the ocean beyond Sunset from Phnom Bakheng, one of two hills dominating the plain of Angkor, from where you will have a spectacular view of the Western Baray and Angkor Wat.

DAY 19 (20 NOV 2011 SUNDAY): SIEM REAP – FLIGHT TO PHNOM PENH (B/-/-)

After breakfast, transfer you to take a flight to Phnom Penh in the morning by K6 100 (08:50 – 09:35 hrs).

On arrival at Phnom Penh, our tour guide picks you up to check in the hotel. Afternoon, we witness National Museum of Khmer Arts, with its warm red terracotta and its gracefully curved roof topped by dozens of guardian nagas. Then Royal Palace, one of the most beautiful samples of Khmer palace, which allows us to visit the precious Throne Hall, Prasat Khemarin, Prasat Samrn Phirum, Hor Preah Khan, Chan Chhaya, and Silver Pagoda where the king regularly does the warship.  Then visit Wat Phnom and take a Cyclo City Tour to Independence Monument. Then free your own leisure.
