Horses are known to be skittish by nature. When a young foal meets the playful dog for the first time, he is at a loss on how to handle the situation. After a while, the foalrelaxes, and the dog minds his own business.

Horses and dogs can be trained to get along. However, always ensure the safety of both animals as they interact. Experts’ advice the best time to foster such unions is when the dog is young.

Most importantly, some dog breeds will get along with the horses. However, it all boils down to the temperament of an individual dog.

Before bringing the dog to the barn, ensure the leash is on. Walk the dog around the horse. Spend some time so that the dog gets comfortable.

Avoid putting the horse and the dog too close for the first time. If the horse acts aggressively, take the dog out.
