Welcome blog hoppers! Today it’s my turn to tell you about this fun new book from Jackie Kunkel.
Splash of Color is a collection of 13 quilt patterns all focused on bright colors with black and white prints. All of the quilts are bright and vibrant but the patterns would work with any color palette.
It’s a special treat to find a book that’s full of patterns that I like. Many of them are based on very traditional blocks but Jackie has used fabric and layout to give them a very modern look.
My favorite quilts in the book are the first 2. Why? because they are based on the Drunkard’s Path block! You know I got a little obsessed with the DP block last year.
Lava Lamps
The other cool thing about the book is that she shows most of the projects in 2 colorways. It really helps you envision how you might be able to customize the pattern for your own color palette.
Proud Mary
Aren’t these fun quilts? I wish I didn’t have so many other projects on my plate right now because I’d jump in and make Lava Lamps first. Or maybe Proud Mary because I love the effect of the extra piece in the arc. What a huge difference that makes to the DP block.
