A buddy emailed me yesterday about a bike meet on Sunday(today). The weather was looking good so I was on board. It wasn't far and the ride was good. There was going to be a bike show and swap meet, food, bands, etc.  I had the choice of parking in a distant parking area or getting in the show and parking in the middle of the action, so I said what the hay, sign me up. I ended up meeting a fellow VFRD member Dave(tireguy) with his Toro charger 800. That sure looked sweet. The show was for all pre-1987 bikes broken into different categories. I guess I fell into the Superbike category, CBX's, Z-1's, GSXR's etc.  Impolitely, I was talking to Dave while they were handing out trophy's. When they got to the Superbike category, they rattled off some names then anounced the winner as having the VF1000R. HUH? I...had the only VF1000R. People were clapping but I wasn't sure even what to do till Dave slaps me on the back towards the guy with the microphone. Sure enough, the old girl tickled the judges fancy enough to grab a 1st place. Everyone laughed when I said I had no way of getting it home!

Trust me when I say I'm no bike show guy. I could spend 30 minutes pointing out this bikes many "bike show" faults. There were some really nice examples there and I just don't have what it takes to polish off that last 15% to make a bike perfect. My bike is a street bike first and foremost, plenty of scratches and chain lube so it really cracked me up when they called my name.

Anyway, this was a well run show and I'll be back for sure next year. Here's a taste as to what you can expect to see there.
