Storytimes are every Wednesday, September 4 through November 27. Baby & Toddler storytimes are for children up to 18 months. Craft time is open to all children and focuses on teaching scissor, glue and coloring skills. Preschool storytimes are open to any child who can sit for longer stories and participate in active songs. Come for songs, stories, and fun. We look forward to seeing you all. To ensure everyone is able to enjoy quality storytimes, we have a maximum capacity (first come, first served) of 50.

Raindrop Therapy

Give your feet a treat by experiencing Raindrop Therapy. Inspired by the Lakota Indians, Raindrop Therapy uses therapeutic oils for balancing and rejuvenating the mind and body. Writers’ Theater Partnership

This program is dedicated to bringing out the best in your play, screenplay or short story. Fellow writers and participants will help you develop your work by reading aloud and providing feedback. Peace Day Kids & Teen Craft Event

Celebrate National Comic Book Day with Andre Frattino

Celebrate National Comic Book Day with author/illustrator, Andre Frattino. He will be making a special appearance at the Anastasia Island Branch Library to bring alive his artwork for kids of all ages. Andre has appeared at the St. Augustine Beach Art Association and other libraries and will be a participant in this year’s Florida Heritage Book Festival.

Every Thursday
We invite you to join us each week for all the laughs of storytime. We’ll share some of our favorite books, sing songs, play music, tell interactive stories, make crafts, and have lots of fun.
Baby Time 10:15am: A gentle lapsit program with action rhymes, fingerplays, and first books for babies. For pre-walkers only, please.
Toddler Time 11am: We’ll sing, we’ll dance, and share our excitement for books and learning at the library. Don’t be shy and bring your dancing shoes.
Preschool Storytime 11:30am: “Big Kids” get a storytime of their own. Longer stories, a variety of early literacy concepts, listening, and pre-classroom skills. Perfect for 3-5 year olds.

Pirates Love Their Library Cards

Everyone loves their library cards, especially pirates.  To celebrate National Library Card Sign-Up Month and International Talk Like a Pirate Day, the Main Library will be hosting a piratical photo booth.  Bring your St. Johns County library card, come dressed as a pirate, and get your photo taken. We’ll have props on hand if you forget your costume and would still like to get a photo taken. Photos will be available for viewing on the library’s flickr account.

The Wink of Immediacy: A Flash Fiction Workshop

Flash Fiction covers as wide a range of forms and styles as other fiction and creative nonfiction, but it does so with fewer words. That’s the long and short of it. It is an exciting, tightly-compressed and nuanced genre, rich with implication and surprise. In this workshop, we’ll explore some of its possibilities. We’ll try our hands at a variety of constraint-based methods for capturing the telling moments that occur in the opening and closing of a window. We’ll share some of what we do. There are two goals: for everyone to have something to revise and, at some point or points in the workshop, to laugh very hard. Please bring paper and something to write with. Presented by Mark Ari, award-winning author, creative writing professor at UNF, performing singer-songwriter, and painter. Just for Babies - Held the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays at 10:15am; for babies up to 15 months and their caregivers. This infant lapsit is designed for one-on-one interaction between caregiver and baby. Families with multiple children are encouraged to attend Family Storytime.

Family Storytime - Held every Tuesday morning at 11am; for children 16 months – 5 years and their families, though no child will be turned away.

Wednesday through Saturday, the Book Sale will be open to the public. Saturday will once again be Bag Day, where each bag of books is $8. All proceeds go to support the Friends’ Mission to make our library an outstanding educational, cultural, civic, and recreational center for the community.
