2 weeks ago I read that YSL’s Rouge Pur Couture No. 52 was sold out worldwide cos of a Korean Show “My Love from the Star“. The actress Jeon Ji-hyun was rumoured to be wearing the YSL No. 52 lipstick and so the craze of buying the lipstick. Last week, I heard that YSL No. 52 will be re-stocked in the YSL store at ION Orchard on May 9 and so I went down the next day on May 10 to get it. Lo-and-behold! I bought the LAST piece of YSL N0. 52!! Wow! Should I call myself lucky?! Anyway, here’s my review…
The YSL Rouge Pur Couture lipstick comes in this classy gold block case that just makes me fall in love with YSL lipsticks. Who doesn’t like being classy right?
The YSL No. 52 is a bright coral based pink even though it looks more orangey than pink. The product is very creamy and glides on the lips without any effort. There is totally no need to drag the lipstick onto the lips to get the colour on. Really friendly to the lips.
The texture of the lipstick is such that you feel it is very moisturizing. You won’t feel your lips cracking up even after a few hour of wear. However, I noticed on one occasion there was a faded rim of the colour on the inner portion of the lips. You know, those lines that show that you are really thirsty? It happened only once so I guess I was really thirsty that day. Ha!
The lipstick has a nice “taste” to it and made me feel very good about applying it on my lips. I love the brightness in the colour that stands-out. It is also much easier to apply as compared to a brighter red lipstick like the VDL Expert Color Lip Cube. I could just apply the lipstick directly onto my lips without the extra steps and it looks good to go. But I do note that the colour on lips is not the same as how it seems on the tube or like the swatch on my wrist. My duller lips colour would show through especially the outer lips of my lips. So I advise putting a concealer onto the lips and lining the lips to get the desired colour to show for your look. The lipstick is rather moisturizing and creamy, so the lips would look creamy and not matte. I believe this has got to do with your lips condition as well.
Overall, YSL Rouge Pur Couture No. 52 is a wonderful bright coral-based pink that would brighten up your look if you do not like singing to the tune of red. Try a coral-based pink like this and it instantaneously brightens your look. And a side note, if you do not want to look like the garden, try not to wear green eye shadow. You know what I mean…
Anyway, I don’t know why I was so excited to get this lipstick since I am no Korean Drama fan. But maybe I should start getting some makeup and fashion inspirations from the Korean Dramas. And furthermore, it is ONLY A RUMOUR that Jeon Ji-hyun wore the YSL No. 52. For all you know, it might just be Laneige’s lipstick.
