CORD has cancelled Kwale rally to mourn the late Senator Boy Juma Boy. Opposition leader Raila Odinga is expected to attend his burial today. He will be laid to rest today at his Vanga home in Kwale County in accordance to Muslim traditions.
Boy Juma Boy died at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi after he was transferred from Mombasa hospital where he was hospitalized for a week. He had been put under intensive care unit.
The deceased came from a powerful political family in kwale. He replaced his father Juma Boy in 1983 as the Matuga Member of Parliament a seat that he retained in 1988 and 1992 elections. He was also the former KANU chief whip.
The death is a blow to ODM, which has lost two of their finest orators: the deceased, and Otieno Kajwang. Both had the power to move crowds. Several dignitaries have sent their condolences to the family and the people of Kwale.
President Uhuru Kenyatta took to twitter to express his grief. “I convey my deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to senator Boy Juma Boy’s family, relatives, and the people of kwale.”
