The Villa Marina’s Royal Hall in Douglas was packed for last Sunday’s annual prize presentation of Team RL360 Isle of Man’s 2014 Youth League.

On the night, Helen Withers from sponsors RL360 was kept very busy handing out the medals and prizes to all the competitors.
A total of 612 riders took part in the 2014 series, with the much sought after class winners’ yellow jerseys going to Emily Rewsin, Tristan Speight, Graihagh Morgan, Eddie Dillon, Fearne Bregazzi, Alec Sorby, Florence Griffin, Cian Howard, Nicola Quaye, Cian Jackson (2 classes), Mairi Harrison, Niall Colquitt, Kiera Prentice (2 classes), Zac Walker (2 classes), Emily Kinley, Percy Hampton, Emma Draper, Corrin Leeming, Rebecca Cooil, Shellan Leeming, Charlie Gibson, Amelia Sharpe, William Draper, Tara Ferguson and Matthew Draper.
Once the main presentation was completed the winners of the special awards were announced. Cian Jackson collected the Peter Buckley Trophy as the most promising young rider, with Adam Kelly picking up the Steve Hislop Cup for the most improved rider.
William Draper was awarded the Alex Forrest Cup for the string of excellent performances he produced throughout the year and Tara Ferguson received the Marie Noon Plague as the league’s leading girl. The recipient of the coveted James Berry Memorial Trophy, awarded to the league’s under-16 champion, was named as Matthew Draper. Unfortunately, he was unable to be there on the night as he was in the UK representing the North West in the Inter–Regional Road championships. His sister Emma accepted the trophy on his behalf.
Finally, Rozanne Coward and Peter Quayle were called upon to hand over the cash bursaries they donate annually to help further the careers of selected riders. This year Conor Davies received the £150 given in the memory of Rozanne’s first husband George Wilson, while Matthew Draper and Owen Dudley shared the £500 presented by the Quayle family in memory of the late Stewart Quayle.
